Tested it out last night.

I drove it around with the new 40 series and it is definatly more powerful and faster than with the stock 30 series. It won't chirp on concrete, but to get the 30 series to launch like that I had to change out the drive springs to let the belt slip, which burnt it up quick. I weigh about 185 and this kart will do donuts on gravel for me no prob. The belt gets only slightly warm when pushing it hard to the point where the 30 series belt burnt. I'll have to get out the GPS soon to get a top speed but it seems around 35-40mph. So far I'm quite happy with the performance of the 8HP with the comet 40. I still have 3 upgrades to do now: aluminum sandwich sprocket guard, steering stops, paint the jackshaft bracket.

Sorry I just dont agree that a 40 can run the driven "outboard" like you are forced to with a plate.

Agreed. I considered this for a while after watching a GoPowerSports 40 series upgrade kit video, but I think the belt would wear out a lot faster running at a skew during high speeds. Maybe if one had a long motor shaft they could also flip the drive pulley, but I don't.

That's beefy. Nice work. Also potatoes.

Thanks man. Sorry, not many potatoes up in Sandpoint. That ruckus is all down south.

Steering stop

I welded flange nuts to the top of the steering spindles and now I can thread a bolt and jam nut for limiting the steering. This is necessary for the larger polaris scramble tires. The final hub spacers on the spindle ended up at 1.25 inches. These spacers and stop nuts keep the tires from rubbing the roll bar frame. The spacers also put the front tire width at the same as the new larger rear tires, which are on the new 4-on-4 flange hubs.

Port, polish and brows

I had a few hours to port, polish and shave the brows on the head of the 300cc 8hp flathead briggs.

Ports

Dremel with flex shaft and end-mill works well. Finish with grind cone bit, then sand. Then put valves back in.

Tire chains for manco dingo

The chains are for a car: $40 cheapos from Walmart cut to length. They work well and fit snug between the knobs if the tire knobs are worn down a bit. Otherwise I would try to skew them to route them over top the knobs.

I got a dingo down in NC, sadly we didn't have a way of transporting it so it will hang there untill relitives come up to OH in the fall, It will be a prodject as it's been sitting outside for years with seized steering and what looks to be a bent axel

Sweet. Doesnt sound too bad since axles are all over the internet. Also you might check out surpluscenter for a great deal ($299) on the 10hp vanguard 305cc. 19L232-0111-F1. It fits the 8hp dingo well and the 5hp if you move the gas tank and fab a new jackshaft.

Thx for the Idea, I'm a broke teen without a job though as with it I would need a new TC, so until I get a job I'm probably just going get a predator 212 so the 5 hp on it can go to my other go kart

Got the 10hp 305cc Vanguard OHV installed. Dropped from a 54T to a 48T for the axle sprocket and it seems pretty good me. Still peels out easier than the 8hp flathead and has a faster top end.
