HOWDY!
brandy new so i might need help. i read the rules just not sure about the pic w/ the sign thing, but we'll see if i can figure it out.

i am actually a Trailmaster, SSR, BMS, DRR USA dealer and have been a buggy enthusiast for the last 8 years. i opened the shop about 3 years ago but my heart is in building more than selling.
i have quite a few builds under my belt and started this one 2 weeks ago ( the 2nd week of OCT).
i stumbled on this forum and saw the build off competition and figured what the heck. i have been working on starting some sort of buggy racing events here in Fla and our next event is Dec 31st so this one will need to be done before then. anyone interested......https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=165158066889726&ref=br_rs

anyway on w/ the build
started out as a tomberlin crossfire 150 with a broken swingarm and no engine. so after i stripped it down it looked like this.

still not sure about the cookies sign, might need a little help.

so this is actually being built for my wife to race and she is a fan of crossfires. her 1st one i swapped a 250 in it and then chopped it in 1/2 along with a hammerhead 250 and built what i call the "crosshammer".
here are some before and after pics. the pics of it yellow was after the 250 engine swap and the green pics are the "CROSSHAMMER" pics.

so the goal is to be a light , single seat racer, the swingarm had a broken leg that had been ridden by the previous owner so it was completely tweaked. i opted to cut it all off and start from scratch.

still not sure about the cookies sign, might need a little help.

Have a look at some of the other entries; they all have a sign (a piece of paper, cardboard, sheetmetal, whatever) with the following written/painted/printed on it: "DIYGK 2017 - Cookies!" & the date the pic was taken...

Yip!! All you need is the sign, and your build will then get moved to the build off area for the contest

well then i will carry on and try to get the 3 weeks of progress on here.
took the crossfire chassis and carved it down width wise to a single seater. then welded in some new tubing to tie it back together.
i chopped the cage down 2" and put an extra bend in the A-pillars to make up for it. i cut the main hoops and bent a new over the head hoop and tied that in so the cage ends behind the seat.
cut some panels out of aluminum and ran flat stock around the sides of the cage to mount them to.

the next idea i had was to put a roof on it, just never something ive tried before. i didnt want it to be just a flat pan on top so i welded in the front crossbar to it with a bend to try and use the cage as a template to introduce some curves to it. i cut what i thought was a close cardboard template and used it to get the basic shape. cut the aluminum out to see how far off it would be. when i got close i welded in tabs to bolt it down then clamped the roof on and drilled the bolt holes. from back to front clamped and drilled one at a time. whatever bit of overhang was left i ground down to match the cage.

the next thing was to center the tank mount in the rear and figure out what i wanted to do behind the seat. i didnt want any more bars , i just though the look would get cluttered and just add wait. and so far this build has turned out a little different than my previous builds look wise.
i used to do a lot of song writing and home recording and i would challenge myself to make sure that each song sounded different than the next, it had to be good and somewhat self pleasing but it could sound like the previous ones. i have already had people tell me between Lucifer, my black Joyner in the trailer pic, and the Crosshammer that my cages had a style, that they looked like "my cage". even though they are different , they "looked like the same guy built them"....well, a style is cool but i wanted to challenge myself to do something different that I hadnt done before so not to fall back on a default way of doing things.
so i decided to go w/ a deck that the tank would set into and a winged look. unfortunatelt my TSC brake started stressing out trying to bend the sheet of alum for the deck so i went flat and used aluminum angle i had in the shop.

last friday got the motor rebuilt, bumped it up to a nakamura 155cc kit and charmo racing head. just need to slap the clutching into it. i also fabricated the new exhaust pipe this weekend. this should bring me up to date. today i work on relocating the pedals.

I go on there every now and then, but I sold my buggy, and I have been building karts and minibikes Mostly mini bikes Lol) lately. Yes we are friends on Facebook to have seen the buggy races which are really cool.
