After much thought I've decided to enter into this little contest, and see if I can open a can of...ya you get the point lol.

2 seater reverse trike, rotax liquid cooled snow mobile engine, and a need for speed.

Pics coming tomorrow afternoon, as well as the sign, stuck at work now and finally decided to just do it.:2guns::lolgoku::useless:

Wanted to make sure I was prepared lol. Bad thing is that I still need a ton of stuff. I'm trying to find an old atv frame/front end set up right now to simplify things a bit. If I can't get it for a good price though I might just fab everything up myself.

While I know there is no way in this world I'm going to win, I'm still at it. Just gives me a reason to go big and crazy.

Redoing the frame design now before I cut or weld more, but beside that I do have an update.

Came across a guy selling a bayou 220 cc atv for $50, engines seized, and no tires but not worried about that. If I'm right I have rims to fit those hubs. On top of that it gives me a-arms, spindles, brake components, and steering stuff to work with.

Also found a steel supplier, went in to check the prices and what do you know, turns out the manager is a good friend of mine I went to school with, gonna cut me a good deal on the rest of my steel.

Yes I'm still chugging away at it, and more pics and updates will come once I get the design reworked for the new engine and parts. My thrown together from scrap kart will be one crazy ride winning or not.

You have the same chancer to win as everybody else. Good deal on the steel and atv parts.

Well the guy with the 4 wheeler frame fell through, figures. He was giddy to sell it then just quit answering my texts/calls when I said I had cash in hand.

BUT

I had another guy text me, had a suzuki lt230s frame, full set of a-arms, tie-rods, shocks, brake components, the only thing it was missing is the swing arm (still had the shock) one of the calipers is frozen up, and no master cylinder. Besides that though everything is in good condition for the most part.

I'll upload pics when I get on wifi in a bit.

Gonna just cut the front end off, cut it in half, widen it (of course getting thick tube that fits the id), and mount it for the front. Use the rear shock for the swing arm, and go from there.

For $50 it got me a good amount of the parts.
going to have to lengthen the tie rods and get the geometry all straightened out, but I'm thinking that it's gonna work pretty well.

Picked up a drill press today, and just becausr it was in the deal too a belt/disc sander. Should help me iut a lot in this project, especially since I have to drill new styd holes for the rear wheels.

Paid...not a penny. Traded for an old ps3 console that I originally got for free and was collecting dust.

The nice thing about having those tools is that not only will it help you with your build but they will be nice to have for many projects and tasks in the future.

I've been looking for a cheap press for awhile now. Believe me that thing will see a lot of use. I just have to go to HF and get a new chuck key lol.

I was planning on taking the base off it, extending the pole a few feet, and making a bigger base so that it'll sit on the floor instead of my already crowded bench.

I'm kind of fighting myself now between drilling iut new stud holes in the rim vs casting new hubs out of zamak 2 because of its lightness, ease of making, and strength. Though I still may just get hubs and redrill then instead.

Hey I have the same drill press. It Is better than nothing. While you are getting the chuck key, I think that is a HF Drill press (mine was free too) See if they have the little clampy things that attach to the plate in those slots. Mine does not and if you cant hold your work it can be useless, and a pain in the neck messing with C clamps.
What I would really like to have is that sander. It is so nice to sand the grinder marks off something you just made.

Trying to think of something I have that is worth anything and that I don't want. Anyway that is gonna be a lot of shipping cost back and forth, for a free item. But I appreciate the thought.

Swartz creek eh? I am in Bay City. Perhaps we can arrange a completion compilation video when we are both done and have some fun bombing around somewhere? Could be cool!

Ok update: the quads hubs won't work, bolt pattern qis way to far apart, and they don't have anywhere to redrill new holes so ya.

Going to be ordering a pair of these: https://www.bmikarts.com/mobile/product.asp?itemid=2907. Since they're 4 on 110mm spread like one set of my rims.

Also going to be ordering a set of these for the back: http://www.mfgsupply.com/53-681.html

And these rims for the back tires: http://recstuff.com/8X7-4-4-White-Bell-Trailer-Wheel.aspx

Also getting a custom length axle @ 1" for the back from bmi, gonna be 30" with 1.5" threaded ends which should be plenty of room to accommodate 2 tires side by side, 40 series sprocket and hub, disc brake and hub, and all the locking collars.

Getting a set of 3 hole axle hangers from bmi too.

The jackshaft I have came from a snowmobile and is hex bore, and I toyed around with the idea of having it shaved down to 3/4" round, but then found a nice hex bore hub with weld on sprocket that will fit it in 40 pitch for cheap enough so may go with that.

Getting my frame all welded together, which I'll post up some pics probably next weekend after I get some more finished. ..

It's slow going right now, but I'm getting there. Just hoping to have it finished by the deadline right now as the main constraint is $ lol, but I'll get it done. Really hoping the engine doesn't give me problems, but I guess I'll see.

If anyone has any suggestions on anything it would be greatly appreciated.

O, and I also won't be doing brakes on the front like I had hoped because I'm switching hubs, but that'll be ok as I'll just go with something beefier on back.
