I've always wanted to do a tracked vehicle, and I just found the mother of all deals 20 snowmobile tracks 10 under carridges with runners wheels and drive wheels shocks everything for 200 bucks its all old 70-80's stuff so the local junk yard is giving me a deal so they don't have to scrap it. and the engine and transmission is a 500 cc water cooled, oil cooled. 5 speed with reverse, drive shaft driven with an open style differential is being traded for my Golf Cart. So if you combine all those parts I should have plenty to work with.

OK back from the snowmobile scrap yard got 60 feet of track 48 bogie wheels and 8 sprocket wheels and various rods and springs and such, Now the fun begins.

BTW just found an old 1980 4 wheel cart with a 4 cyl Onan diesel engine and complete rear end. FREE picking that up on Tuesday so not only did I save 500 for the quad engine but I now have a bullet proof rear end and motor thats still capable of doing 80-100 KMPH. Pictures to come in next couple days.

I should still be able to achieve a top speed of 80 KMPH its all dependent on my rear axle gearing. I'll find out on Tuesday when I go to get it.

BTW Don't lose that control stick at 80, or it will take you a year to get un-dizzy

My new white board from dollar store $3.00 well worth the money. Just working out placement and trying out various designs.

Miniripsaw was only 6 feet long mines 10 so I can't exactly copy it plus I'm thinking of making the whole tracked system removable from the cart so only the track system can be brought into the garage. Limited in money and parts too, so just gonna play it by ear.

Seen it was cool but I don't have 100k to put into the drive train. So I'm working on bare minimum tech that works and won't break at the drop of a leaf

U don't have to use custom CNC parts and a big car engine

Just have a look at how the suspension works
Look at how the minor and mayor biggies interact

Ya I'm waiting till I get my drivetrain to figure out my next move, after tomorrow I should be back in business. Not sure of my exact track layout yet I know the front needs to be angled for climbing ditches might make a slightly angled rear too in case I have to back out. All depends on my drivetrain. Also waiting on Golf Cart to sell so I can pick up more tubing. Figure I'll have close to 4k in this when done. 1k steel 2k worth of engine and drivetrain (free) time and effort PRICELESS. Final price if I ever sell it 6-8 GRAND. I'm selling off all my stuff to do this build. Got rid of extra couch, grandfather clock, golf cart, extra tools, riding mower and everything else I can get rid of I don't use anymore. Been down sizing the garage as well and replacing old tools with new ones. Over all its been a busy spring so far. Still need to get the S10 into the garage for a transmission line fix and exhaust work, then I can sell the gas guzzling van. Also my mother passed away in January so I've been dealing with getting rid of her stuff. She passed away in her sleep at the age of 65, she wasn't in the best of health having suffered from cancer, migraines, back issues, diabetes and other issues. Basically I'm doing this project right now to keep myself busy or I'm just gonna sit here and fall apart. Its been a rough few months, my sister living 3000 km away I've had to do all the funeral arrangements and deal with all the relatives. Trust me people you never know how much they mean till they are gone so do me a favour goto your parents say I LOVE YOU at least once a day, because they raised you the best they could and even though life may have been hard they still love you deep down. OK enough of that, I'll be posting lots more as soon as I get my engine and pipe, with DETAILED pics of suspension for those that would like to build thier own tracked vehicle in the future.

Are you still planing on using that sled engine or are you going with the car engine? You're probably going to need upwards of 100hp to reach 80km/h and still have good accelerations with those tracks. I'm also curious to see how you are going to connect those tracks together and still have then hold up at high speeds.

SECRETS SECRETS SECRETS \you'll just have to wait to see. Its not a car engine its a generator engine 22 HP. OK its an ONAN 2 cyl 12.9 HP with chain transmission and chain open differential. Looks like its a 1970 skid loader. Not sure what to do with it but its FREE. Picked up more boggies and some cutting discs, Tomorrow I get more steel. Also picking up an Indy cart no motor for FREE. Will post pictures maybe someone knows more then I do about them. I don't know crap about small karts. But I do know how to build almost anything. Maybe a second entry in the build off contest? It even has a solid metal wing on the back. So I'm waiting on engine delivery and that won't happen till it drys out a bit here. So I'm not gonna make much progress till end of month at least.
