how to post videos on DIYgokarts.com:

upload video to youtube. when it's done uploading it'll give you a link to view the video. do NOT post THAT link on here, it won't embed the video. instead, click the link that youtube provided you, and at the top of the page you will see that it has a different URL with the word "watch" in it. copy and paste THAT URL into a message on here. done.

motor's RPMs are erratic. sounds like an old lawn mower of mine that was on the brink of death. lol. is that a new motor? something's not right with how it's running. probably a defective carb if it's new, otherwise prolly needs a good cleaning.

That's just the governor. I should limit the pedal travel so that it can't rev all the way up. It doesn't have enough load on it to limit the RPM due to the massive gear ratio I'm running.

um, no, i've used many industrial engines and none of them sounded like that at peak RPMs unless something was goofy. governor prevents the RPMs from exceeding a certain RPM, not make it go all yo-yo on you. lol.

Dunno Vern, sounds exactly like all of my lawnmowers do at max rpm with no load. Maybe your PC sound is making it sound worse than it does in person.

It looks great. There are just 2 safety features you should consider. First off is a floor pan so peoples feet don't hit the ground and get injured. Second is to put some sort of cover over your driv assembly. You don't want someones hair or fingers to get caught up in all that chain

I wholeheartedly agree with these safety pointers and would also like to suggest a seatback. It's suck to have your butt slide back and drop onto the works back there.

It wasn't finished yet! :roflol: I put the seat on today, and I'll have the floor and chain guards on this weekend. I just wanted to test it while I still had easy access to the frame in case I needed to reroute something.

Floorboard is in, didn't bother with a pic since it's just a piece of plywood bolted onto the frame. I think instead of a chain guard I am going to do a short bed, leaving enough clearance to start the engine. I still want to move the steering wheel and pedals, but I think I am going to let the kid drive it first and see how cramped he really is. If it's not bothering him, I'll wait till I finish my cart, which I will start this weekend if his test run goes well. Hopefully there will be video of that in the next couple of days. :)

Got a seat, seat belt, part of the bed, and part of the cage done, and then Ryan wanted to take it for a test drive. He slowly eases back on the throttle till it stops, and then thinks that it's broken. Silly child.

If I decide how I want to do the rest of the cage, I'll have it done this weekend. At this point I am thinking I will do the front bumper, and then cage off of that instead of the shock tower. Any input? I also am thinking I will move the rear upper shock mount onto that bed stub, and yes, I will brace it if I do that.

Moved the rear shock mounts and fiddled with chain adjustment mostly. After I shot this, I figured out how to make him actually press the throttle. I got out a lawn tractor and started racing him, he had the pedal to the metal (literally, I made a stop for the gas pedal out of a chunk of scrap) for about 15 minutes.
