He is using a Comet 40/44 Series torque converter which was designed for engines over 8hp. These are tough to find because Comet is now out of business. There is a Chinese knock of company, GTC, expected to release a similar unit in place of the Comet 40/44. Comet originals can still be found but are expensive. There are other units more readily available such as the Comet 30 series, TAV, and TAV2. These are more common, but still expensive and tough to find. GTC makes a copy of the TAV2 that has some good reviews, PM r97 if you would really like.

This is true. I could have got 350 bucks for my 40 series quite easily.

That's just being smart and making a buck for your future projects. I mean, if it's worth it, then why not?

Well, I could've charged him out the *** for it, but I didn't, because I was already the 3rd owner and didn't pay much for it in the first place. Personally, I don't think that these are worth as much as people are claiming now, seriously, they've only been out of production for like a year.

It's just that the "clones" aren't and are not as well made nor are they as respected for their performance and quailty...yet...maybe.

my cart was free and came with the rear half of the drive still mounted and the jack shaft and i believe the reverse still hooked up can i use it and just replace the part that goes on the engine i think they call it the drive pulley. Im on ss and trying to get by on a pretty tight budget i got lucky on the engine only100 bucks instead of 300. thanks for an answer redsock 985

I prefer to use Photobucket. It's free and you upload your photos, it assigns each an img code then you simply copy and paste that code below each photo you want into your post.

Thanks for the detailed pics it looks great. I just bought the baja dune 150 frame (extremely similar rear end) and have a 18hp to put in it. This thread will help me alot. Check out my post, I would really appreciate some pointers you have from this build!
