So i finally sprang and got the harbor freight predator for my dingo. After alterations I got to ride the dingo for the first time ever, but there's a problem. Its to slow. The pedal only allows the throttle to open halfway. SO I've decided to build a 2-speed type setup on it. I have a plan to put a lever on it that will either open the throttle halfway and then use the pedal for the rest or to use the pedal to open it halfway and let the lever open it the rest of the way. Any opinions?

Im with BM lol nice name WTH?!?

You are definitely over-thinking this.

I have had no problem with my dingo, and (other manco stuff) getting full travel. Take a pic or two of your throttle pedal with the cable hooked up. Something is messed up that you are not thinking of that will be a very easy fix.

Is it the pedal that prevents the throttle opening or the governor? Either way, it should be an easy fix; do some dry runs & see what you come up with

So you want the throttle sort of like a utility tractor?
No you dont....... Just fix your problem, instead of creating a new one. With the engine off, pull the throttle lever all the way open. Now use a broom stick to push the throttle pedal. You will notice, most likely, that u have slack in the cable. Adjust that first, then try the pedal and see if you now get WOT (wide open throttle) Try/check that first, and see what happens. Post pics of YOUR set up so we can see where you went wrong.....

do you have a picture of how you're running it?

No, But I do have a video of it. Please keep in mind that I just used a throttle cable from walmart and welded some ghetto fitment to it and it works. If you have an original manco cable it should have an eyelet that goes around the bolt.

at 53 seconds and 2min 10 seconds are the parts you should watch.

You ran the cable under the throttle arm, thats your problem, I have no idea how you actually did that too, thats nuts!

The cable should go through that throttle stop, take a small wrench and put it around that throttle stop, and then with your other hand put a screwdriver to that tiny screw on top to back it out just a little bit. Put the cable through the hole in there (see picture).... then tighten the screw onto the cable.

You will be so happy now! See, pictures help so much!

Just in case you missed in the first time,..... you will find a VIDEO, SHOWING what the correct setup should be at 2 minutes and 10 seconds.

Much appreciated. Any help on how to get it to return better. Once you let of the pedal it stays about 1/4 open. Still enough to have the clutch engaged

See pic below for another way to run the cable...

Shorter spring or a larger one in a different location...

Another way is hook a larger spring to the end of the throttle arm and the other end to the fan cover
With that leverage, it has a greater potential to return than the shorter one positioned above.

:wai: If it was me, I use this arrangement. Try it with both springs one a time to see which one returns to idle the fastest. Also check the drag on the bolt right in front of spring that fastens down the throttle lever, you may have to loosen it up.
