Just JB welded the crack in the side cover of my ungoverned clone. Gonna try to get it started and mounted on the kart tomorrow. The pulleys should be in tomorrow, so i can finally get some belts and start on the tensioner. Any idea how much bigger i need the belt to be? Would an inch or two bigger be enough?

Got the ungoved. engine started!!! She sounds sweet. Also got the pulleys in this afternoon. 2- 3.95" and one 5.25".

Got the pulleys and belts on. I haven't had time to make the tensioner so ill have to wait till i get back from my trip to Iceland on July 3rd.

Looks like you have super low gear and an overdrive gear? That's quite a jump, the engine might not be able to do it without a lot of slipping in.

I calculated all the ratios with engine rpm in mind. Theres also another gear reduction from the jackshaft to the axle.

Thanks. I got the belts from a local hardware store but they say not to use with clutching devices(probably cause they grip too well) so i gotta get new ones. surpluscenter.com has good prices.

Did a little kart related work today. Radioshack has these little 7-section LED displays so I made 2 PC boards so it'll display either n 1 or 2 depending on what gear the karts in. They turned out great

Thanks. I found that paint pens work perfectly to protect the copper that you dont want to etch. I just finished wiring the 2 boards together. I gotta get some diodes tomorrow to finish it & ill post a pic then.

This thing is great. Can't wait to see it finished. I have some belts I need to get rid off, they are all new or like new. I will get measurements and if they are the right size you can have them for cheap.
