I understand that but I've also seen quite a few one wire kill switches used on older motorcycles. These would achieve spark without any outside wire connections being made just like a Briggs or clone motor.

I dont know anything about Snowmobile engines, do you think BLACKEDOUTX19's engine here definitely needs these 2 wires identified and connected together together to achieve spark?

I really dont know, i would assume so, but then again i have never dealt with that old of a sled engine. I'd say if you have two loose wires, give it a try, cant hurt.

On the ski doo that im using on my kart there is four wires that come out of the engine. One is solid yellow, two are yellow with a red stripe, and the last one is a ground for everything. When i was testing mine to get it running i wired the two yellow with red wires together and attached it to one end of my kill switch than i wired the ground to the other end. I switched to on and turned the engine over with the plugs out and looked for spark than i did the same with it off to make sure it was working. I dunno if yours is like this but its pretty easy to do so you could try it if you have an on/off switch. But of course if you don't have any wires wired up and none of them are touching you should be getting spark unless your plugs are bad. And if that doesnt work than its probably in your engine.

if it's a 2 cylinder 2 cycle points sled motor all you need for it to run are 2 wires. Each coil needs a power wire. Find the 2 wires that power up when each cylinder is at TDC. They should power up oppisite of each other. Then to kill the motor all you need is a switch that connects those 2 coil wires together.

Great score, BlackedOutX19!
I have a 295cc version of that motor, and like you, I'm having a heck of a time getting any specs or help on it. Mine supposedly is rated at 26hp, so yours being a 400cc will definitly be more powerful. All my fun stuff is still in AZ at this point, but this summer I'll be able to attack the project. If I find out anything I'll pass it on- and I'll watch this thread likewise. If it's any help, look up Lowrider 2.0 somewhere on this forum- it details the drivetrain build-up start to finish for a sled motor/kart project. Good luck!

Nevermind!!!! My dad is letting me order parts for it, and me and my friend are repainting it. I will have pics as soon as possible, with the new parts.

Ok for the next few weeks im going to be working on this baby, and hopefully get her going. Im goign to first make sure i get a good rolling chassis. Mod the frame so it fits the engine, get engine running. Disassemble, paint it kawi green and black (love those two) add some lights and neon (hav an etxra tube) give her some gas and go.

Will someone please let me know paint and steps you use to paint a metal frame like this??? Thanks
