Hello and welcome.
+1 above....

What is the bike you are building or going to mount said motor on.

Edit: Oh I see, you are wanting this on a kart. This is the wrong forum for this.
With that being said, you have alot of torque an power already. Don't need to do any thing more.

Poboy -- I've told you before -- cut the crap when it comes to the rude posts. Many people aren't "forum experts" and don't need to be chastised like they should know better if they aren't experienced. EVERYONE is a newbie once. Please encourage members NICELY. That goes for everyone here.

Wilie -- Welcome! Please read up a little bit around the forum and check out what info is already here. We like to help, but we also encourage you to do some research. Thanks for joining.

Kohler is not the most popular kart engine, hence the scarcity of parts. I cannot think of some place off the top of my head, but I always try Google first. Have you checked Google yet?

Edit: I just googled kohler engine mods, and it looks like there is info out there. Check it out

Hey- Welcome to the forum.

Kohler makes some good engines, but parts do tend to be more expensive. When it comes to straight OEM parts, I usually just hit up my local OPE dealer. For speed parts, gotta go with the Google. I'm not sure.

As for what/how to modify it, the principles are the same as for any other engine. It looks like you're off to a good start with it. On the cheap, you can also remove the governor, advance the timing a bit, etc. Having altered the exhaust, don't forget to check your jetting.

:wai: As I work on a lot of Kohler engines, post the engine numbers and I will see what I can do for performance parts.

:wai: I apologize for taking so long to get back to you. Its been a hectic month around here. Death in the family and trying to keep up with my shop work, it seems like everyone waits to the last minute to get there equipment serviced/repaired. There seems to be nothing out there as far as mod/speed parts for the Kohler Ch12.5. Although I suspect that maybe some mod/speed parts that are used on the Kohler K-series might work. Let me check and I will get back to you, quicker this time.

Has anyone on this forum ever used a Noram Enforcer clutch? And are they good clutches

:wai: I have never used one. But I know several racers that have and they have nothing but good things to say about them. There sales pitch states, for one inch shaft engines and can run outboard only. Enforcer clutches are shipped with purple springs and use the same springs as the Mini Cup clutch.

ok just wanted to know what they were about. I have the noram star clutch on it now. and its doing just fine for a heavy kart. But i would like to try the Enforcer out .I read on them that theyhave different engagments with lower rpm settings. And right now im at a2500 stall and i would like to drop down to a lower engagment setting.

Yep the 2500 rpm springs are the minimum for the Star model.
here's the spring chart:-->http://host0114.csmhosting.com/images/2007 NORAM SPRING ENGAGEMENT CHART.pdf

But if you end up installing a race cam, your engine wont have as much torque at lower rpm's, so you'll probably end up wanting at least a 2500rpm clutch stall speed anyway...

I ran a Noram Star clutch on my racekart with the 4000rpm springs.

The Star clutch can be installed inboard or outboard, but something to keep in mind is the Enforcer model is an outboard-only model, plus it wont even slide all the way on the engines output shaft like the Star model will.

Due to its design, the Enforcers drive gear will end up way out past the end of your output shaft. So chain alignment is sometimes a big problem with the Enforcer model. Lots of guys that run the Enforcer have to cut/shorten they're engines output shaft so the clutch can be mounted further inward, and line up with the axle sprocket...

Here's a pic of the Enforcer clutch, the center hole in that drive gear is quite a bit smaller than 1"...
That's why the Enforcer is available with 10 or 12 teeth, and the Star only goes down to 13.
