buddy of mine has a 1980s honda motorcycle that he is giving me. According to his knowledge its not chain or belt driven. He said it has a shaft.it is a 2 wheel bike. Looks kind of like a cruiser bike. Can this motoe be changed to be chain driven. Would like to build a buggy with it. And what else can be used on a kart from a motorcycle. Thank you

It can not be changed to chain easily. The internal mechanics of the gearing on the trans and swingarm is all correlating to each other.

A member from kiwi land called banjo did change a shaft drive to chain

But if u wanna put it in a buggy then just addapt it to a car diff

It'll be better than a chain drive type

That would be a good idea. But if I did that I wouldn't have a way to put reverse on the buggy.

As said before, a bike like that is too good to just tear apart for the motor. Fix it, polish it, make it look nice then sell it for a couple of grand or more. Major profit than just asking for a motor.

I was thinking a reverse box, but I haven't done much research on it. Am try to go get the bike this weekend. It might not be a bad idea to fix it and sell it. Then I can build the buggy with that money. Thanks

Yes u can put that engine in that buggy

As for a FNR box

U can get an rpm box
But for the price of it
Unless u wanna get serious in motor sports I'd just put up without it

U would be better adding a reverse motor to the drive shaft
