1" clutch on 3/4" shaft?

I understand going up to 1" solves the problem, but it adds a couple more: I think the power output of the motors in question don't really justify the more expensive 1" clutches; and the through-bolt mounting system for the 1" clutches are kinda a pain too. It's just a bit frustrating when a person realises that a lot could be solved if that 7/8" shaft could somehow be turned down to 3/4".....
Sorry- it's early morning and I just got off of shift. Kinda whiny!

This clutch online is hard to get so cheap. There normally like $110-120 online. I can get theses for 40 bucks at princes.

Why wont it? I'm pretty sure it's 1" all the way through.

That's the one that has the key milled into the bore of the clutch, so your output shaft has to match it. Since the output shaft is just being shimmed up, it won't have the keyway. That clutch is pretty much set up for the type of output shaft on a 8hp B/S. This whole 7/8" shaft thing is quite the hair-puller.

Got one. Requires 5/16x24 bolt.
Only clutch that will work is held on with set screws. A straight through clutch will operate inboard or outboard. Clutch in your link is outboard only. Made by Hoffco/Comet. Clutch I use is Noram heavy duty #160157 and is 17 tooth. I literally beat the crap out of it and never gets too hot to handle. Best centrifugal clutch I've ever used...regardless of price. Super smooth.

Isnt NORAM a race clutch maker? Good tolerances=better bite and less slip.

They do make race clutches. Mine is not. I'm told it is used commercially for rental karts.

But on that site it say's it uses key stock. Seems like what there saying is that it's not included with the clutch. I'm sure you could get that clutch and drill a hole and tap it for a set screw. So what your saying is that your noram doesnt even have a keyway milled into it?

No space for tapping of set screws and clutch won't go on shaft using inboard configuration. Bolt end is too small and cannot be line bored to fit 1" shaft.
Minimum teeth a 1" bore clutch (straight through) or direct drive sprocket can have is 17 (#35 chain) and is determined by minimum usable output diameter. Comet clutch in link is 12 teeth for #35 chain.

and appreciate it. Really.I did a lot of research on this and had to go with the only clutch that fits/works for my application.
I believe that TAV will work, but requires modding of Lawn-Boy mount. I've got too many things on the fire at the moment to be concerned with that now.
I'm having twins.
