1" clutch on 3/4" shaft?

Do you guys know of any adapters or shim type thing I could use to fit a 1" bore Comet driver on my 3/4" shaft Briggs? I'm trying to avoid the expensive *** spacer on Ebay if possible. Thanks!

Not really do able, get a 1" engine or a 3/4" driver. Keyway becomes a very weak link when you shim a setup like this.

I use stainless pipe cut to length and works perfectly.
Only problem is, this pipe is sold in minimum quantities and can get expensive. I can post a link if still interested.

Dimensions of this pipe are correct to change from .750" to 1.0".
Possible there is a vendor out there that has shorter lengths. Only reason I spent this much was because I was in the middle of a project and could not let expense get in the way.
Mr. McCormic is correct in that key would be a problem.
I make my own keys out of aluminum scrap (6061 t6) when necessary. Patience with a Dremel and a file gets the job done. I've made 'T' and 'L' shaped keys and used them under extreme loads with no problems. They are soft enough to shear if problems arise.

Why thank you kind sir. I've found another supplier that has it in custom cut quantities. Will seamless tubing over welded make a large difference?

Seamless should be a better fit but is more expensive.

a local machine shop should be able to whip one up in a short bit and probably wont cost much at all, just tell them u need a shaft adapter for a 3/4 to 1", and an appropriate key size. if u cut a piece of stock the width of the widest keyway and the length of the keyways depth (ie. for a 1/4 keyway, 1/8" of the key is on the shaft and 1/8" is on the sprocket.) then file the waist on the "T" of the key to match the key way of the sprocket, it will take about 1/hr max to make the key, i had to do this exact same thing a wile ago at work. it works great.

Any ideas about making it work with a built in key? I thought about the adapter being sold on Ebay, but it seems to use an extended key as well.

Alright Russ, the clutch is at the machine shop getting a new keyway, and I bought the tubing you specified. When I go to put the tubing onto the shaft, there is almost 1/8" of play. What am I missing?

As much as I hate to admit it...I made a mistake.
I read 3/4" shaft and was thinking 7/8" shaft.
Pipe I indicated to you was incorrect.
Can be corrected by using .06 shim. Machie shop can help you on this.
Correct pipe dimensions should have been:
Inside Diameter: .7600" (this is + .01 and is acceptable)
Outside Diameter: 1"
Wall Thickness: .1200"
Being this was my mistake I can ship you a piece of the correct pipe. I have much more than I will ever use. I will not charge you. PM me with your address if interested in making this right.
