I have a gearing issue on my go kart. not sure what type of kart it is but it has a predator engine on it. I found that the clutch is slipping and gets super hot and smells. Its a centrifugal clutch. The clutch has 10 teeth and the axle gear has 28 teeth. What can I do to get this working?

The rear tires are 16x7-8. I have a centrifugal clutch.

What size toothed gear should I go with then for the axle? The clutch has 10 or 11 teeth.

How is the gear too small to work? Will it just not provide enough torque to get the kart started to move?

axle There is not a key on the axle. Someone before me had tried to hammer the axle out and accomplished nothing except for mushrooming some threads and the end. The bearings are not welded to the frame, that would be idiotic. I don't see anything over the kart itself that suggests that...

I have a go kart that i'm putting an engine on but the sprocket needs to be moved towards the wheel more. There are spacers inside the frame but I can't seem to get the axle apart. Does anyone know how?

engine I would have no problem welding or customizing to make a different engine fit, I just don't know much about the gear ratios and what size sprockets or what type of clutch/TC to use.

The bell moves seperatley from the rest of the driver with the welds off. The nut is definitely stuck to the shaft pretty well. I took a correct size socket and supported the bell and tapped on the shaft some but it did not want to come off. I didn't tap hard enough to bend anything, just...

So I cut the welds around the nut today but can't seem to get it apart. Does it press together? Do I need a press or is there another way I can do it?

I guess that's the next step. Hopefully I can get to it in the next day or 2.
