    High rpm Clutch

Right thanks for all this. I was thinking a ratio of 6:1 for 1st gear (that's what I have on my kart now) and maybe a ratio of 4:1 in 2nd. What do you think? What size sprockets will I need to achieve this?

2 questions: 1:Where do I get a one way bearing? 2:How do you get Clutch2 to be driven by the axle, would I need another sprocket? oh yeah if someone could sketch a pic of modelengineer design I would realy appreciate it. I think I know what he means but a pic would help alot.

WOW! that's basically what I had in mind it's so cool to see it in 3d like that! I realize know that clutch 1 would have to dissengage for this to work but please let me know your ideas. would switching the clutches work or no? Just brainstorming. Thanks

    High rpm Clutch

What I described is just very basic, I realize that I will need a chain tensioner of some sort to keep the chain on Clutch2 but I dont think that will be that hard. please try to get a sketch up, because my computer won't do google sketch.

    High rpm Clutch

Alright untill I can get pics I will attempt to explain it.: On the engine shaft there is a normal clutch (clutch1) and a sprocket(sprocket1) . Below the engine there is jackshaft with a high speed clutch(clutch2) and another sprocket(sprocket 2) . There are two chains the first chain runs over...

    High rpm Clutch

The way I designed it ( on paper ) I don't think I will need a two sprocketed main clutch. I didn't know that the "secondary clutch" was different than a normal clutch. What would happen if I used a normal cent clutch? Would one of those fancy racing clutches wouldn't work?

    cleaning metal

Yeah I think I have one of those somewhere but I couldn't find it, and buying a new one would have been pretty hard because at this time I had absolutely positively no money at all, so even something like that was out of my budget.
