Nice work Austin 40, what are your plans for an engine?

Not sure what a conversion factor would be, wind plays a big factor with the snow, more than the rain. Your estimate is probably quite reasonable. Another week has passed since the rains, and we did get more, but the past 4 days have been above average (warm & sunny) :D for this time of year...

Glad you enjoyed my ramblings. It certainly has been a learning experience for me. It will probably be spring before I get it completed now, unless I can find some inside space to work. Too cold to paint. Just had 10 inches (yes inches) of rain here the past few days. Just happy it wasn't...

Primarily family in the the province of Quebec, few trips within the province to work on my sailboat in Saint John. Getting it ready for winter. Cover frame was destroyed last year after a heavy snowfall, followed by rain, then more snow. Aluminum frame collapsed. I used 1" Sched 40 aluminum...

    Arachnid Build

Hey T-man, I'm alive and well. Thanks for asking. Project has been on hold for past month due to lousy weather and work schedule among other things. I need to find inside work area to complete. Engine mount needs to be completed and frame painted. I have had to do a bit of traveling...

    Laptops

You mention you are not the techie type. Based on that fact, I would recommend a Mac. I have used PC's since 1980. I never minded digging into the whys and how's of the workings of the boxes. PC's are still vulnerable to hacker attacks. The collateral costs of purchasing a PC involve firewall...

Arachnid Build, ... or is it! (Highly Modified)

Morning Bill, for starters regarding the front end, I would just try longer and better shocks for more travel. The rest looks like it might work just fine. It does seem to be built like a tank as far the front suspension is concerned. Theo mentioned cutting the A-arms (not completely) just...

Arachnid Build, ... or is it! (Highly Modified)

Been raining here for the past 10 days. No work done on the kart, other than trying to mock up an engine mount out of wood before I start welding steel in place. Could not get on the site for the past couple of days. Had to go out of province today, just got back tonight. All is well. :cheers2:

    Arachnid Build

:iagree: theo, I have been suspecting that in the back of my mind for some time now, since I first put the seat in place and saw how close the pedals were. Just didn't want to admit it. :surrender: Will probably cut this winter and lengthen, as I would like to get a little seat time before the...

    Arachnid Build

:iagree: You are ahead of me on the leg room Wobbly, but I have to agree about more foot room. Frame tapers to 10" at the suspension block, would be a lot more comfortable at about 14" I would suspect. That would put it around 16" in the pedal area.

    Arachnid Build

Any time Bill. As for height, I'm only 2" taller than you, and I got to say, as per plans, it's cramped, Theo suggest 52", I currently only have 34" from the inside of the back of the seat to the pedals. :ack2:

    What Tools Do You Use

Whenever available, North American quality brand name. Currently small powered hand tools are mostly Milwaukee 18 volt cordless (I know, made in China) Delta (drill press & bandsaw) or Rigid (chopsaw & stationary sander) for balance of small tools. Delta are old and made in the USA. Rigid are...

Bill, it is 71.5 inches. That is without the weight of the engine in place or the rider. Distance would increase to 72" with maximum suspension travel of 2" I find the frame should be at least 8 - 10 inches longer to provide better leg room for an adult. :furious2: Bob

Unfortunately, I was not the initiator of the thread. It was started long before I purchased my plans. I just happened to have been posting a bit in it for the last couple of months. Primarily urging others to come here, along with the designer to respond to some of our issues. :mad2: That site...
