If there is not enough room for a bigger bolt or helicoil, maybe re-weld the holes then re-drill and tap them?

Nice product there speedmachine. You would have better luck making a simple unit out of extruded aluminum rectangle tubing, aluminium bottom plate, and aluminum top plate. Maybe a small tab bolted onto the bottom of the top cover to hold the battery in place better.

If you weld the insert to the bearing you'll more than likely trash the bearing
