Wheel barrow body + 6.5HP engine

Sorry guys, kind of feel like I caused this "which way does it turn" dialogue. Being new to this, I really didn't know. Obviously pulling the chord and starting it answered the question. It would have been nice if the manual said counter clockwise when viewed from the shaft. Anyway... moving...

Thanks, when you talk about the 12 on the clutch and 76 on the axle you're talking about the teeth right? Is a chain better than a belt? Seems like the odds of slipping are less when using a chain.

Wheel barrow body + 6.5HP engine

Yes, engine in the rear like the picture. Hmm, do I have to choose only 1 out of the 4? Honestly I really don't know.

Wheel barrow body + 6.5HP engine

I was thinking 20" high rear wheels and maybe 10 " for the front. Although I think it would look cool (to me) I don't know that it would really handle all that well when it turning fast. I'd like him to be able to slide it a little through the turns.

Wheel barrow body + 6.5HP engine

I'm not sure yet... The clutches look like they'd do the trick, but this is going to be my son's go kart and he'll use it only on the road, never off road, so I still need to do some more reading if just using a clutch will be ok. I'm all for recommendations... :-) Additionally, I'm hoping...

Wheel barrow body + 6.5HP engine

Thanks man! The idea of using a wheelbarrow for a body wasn't mine, but the idea of adding an engine to it is. :-)

Wheel barrow body + 6.5HP engine

Counter clockwise from the drive shaft. :-) Thanks again everyone for all their input. What a cool site and helpful group of people, I just joined today and am really glad I did! Also... their is another wheelbarrow soap box car on this page about half way down...

Wheel barrow body + 6.5HP engine

Thanks all, main concern was axle location and looks like not an issue. I'll post of pics (or more likely more questions) as I get into this.

Wheel barrow body + 6.5HP engine

So looking at it from the crankshaft side, got it thanks! The wheel barrow idea came from seeing other people use it for a soap box derby - no engine just roll it downhill. Plus I scored the wheel barrow tub for only $20. In order to make it safe enough (for a go-kart), I'm going to put holes...

Don't laugh but what is PTO side?

Wheel barrow body + 6.5HP engine

In the picture I have the engine backwards - so when the crank "supposedly" turns counterclockwise it will propel it forward I thought it being counterclockwise was really weird also... but that is what the manual says. I haven't started it yet, but definitely will before I build the frame...

Wheel barrow body + 6.5HP engine

According to the directions/manual it says, Direction: counterclockwise. I was surprised too. It is the engine that Harbor Freight sells for $119. Trying to make a go-kart. I haven't designed/built the frame yet, but my plan was to put the axle directly in front of the engine, not underneath it.

Wheel barrow body + 6.5HP engine

Hi All, Question: Is it possible to mount the rear axle in FRONT of the engine? I don't know that it matters but the engine is a counterclockwise drive. My thought is that I'm going to turn the wheel barrow body around backwards and the rear axle will sit in between the wheel barrow and...
