EVERY ENGINE TURNS CLOCK WISE WHEN YOU LOOK AT IT FROM THE FLY WHEEL! some idiot companys dont relize that you look at it from the flywheel and not the crank shaft.

DO WE GOTTA YELL?!?!?!
I absolutely cannot believe this is still going! They ALL run counterclockwise as viewed from the shaft side, clockwise as viewed from the recoil side. This is not astrophysics. Besides- If you, by some weird twist of fate should end up with an engine that spins opposite... Mount the engine the other way 'round! Easy, no?

Whew... Feel better now... Ummmmmm- What was the question???

that contributed alot to this already hijacked thread!

To the origional poster Yes it is possible to mount the engine behind the rear axle it will have lots of weight in the back. And may possibly do a wheelie if the engine has enough torque and is able to put that to the ground. If you use a toruqe-a-verter it might. you can mount it like you normaly would and it would all be the same as if the engines in front. but the chain would be going foward.

Sorry guys, kind of feel like I caused this "which way does it turn" dialogue. Being new to this, I really didn't know. Obviously pulling the chord and starting it answered the question. It would have been nice if the manual said counter clockwise when viewed from the shaft. Anyway... moving on!

So, thinking about the placement of the axle in relation to the motor is what originally got this started, and thinking about it more... it might be possible to pull wheelie’s in it - although that would be cool, isn't what I'm going for. I like the rear axle in front of the engine just because it would give it that old school hot rod feel – the tall tires in the rear would cover the engine when looking at it from the side. YIKES, maybe I'm thinking about this way too much - hopefully I'm on the right site then! :)

Time to stop thinking and find the wheels I want to run and then build around that (and the wheel barrow body).

Question: I know there are many places to buy go-kart parts online, does anyone know of any in Orange County or San Diego, CA? Things like brakes and steering I'd like to be able to see them first and also if I order something that doesn't work, not have to pay shipping both ways.

I like these designs. front engine would be more work but way cooler and realistic. yes those are cut wheel barrows. I do not know anymore about these or what other parts they use, I have been looking.
