I'm brand new and just started this thread yesterday (https://www.diygokarts.com/community/threads/coleman-kt196-jackshaft-delete.47316/#post-591998). We are having similar issues with our KT196 (you can see pics in the thread). My issue is my sprockets aren't lining up because of welds...

Ahh ok. That's very helpful. I'm happy to just put this thing back together with the jackshaft. We will just brace it up somehow. My father-in-law is very innovative with this type of stuff, so we should be able to come up with something to help sure this thing up.

Ah I'm not sure if it will line up. In this thread (https://www.diygokarts.com/community/threads/coleman-t-196-jack-shaft-junk.44675/) Kartorbust and Panchothedog seem to indicate it would. I don't have any experience in the matter to really know.

It won't line up as it sits now because of the cracked weld if that answers your question?

Thanks! Question I have is do I need that kit from Go Power Sports to rid myself of the jackshaft? The KT196 does already come with a torque converter, but I think I'm seeing that kit correctly in that it has a sprocket on the backside of it that would effectively replace the jackshaft. Just...

Ahaha he's a good man and we have a great relationship! He's been a metal fabricator for three decades now, so I'm in good hands. Plus it's for his grandkids, so I'm safe ahaha.

The middle pic you can see the sprocket is tilted out at the bottom and that's why the chain is coming off.

Hopefully those show the crack well enough.
