Hello,
My kids have a Coleman KT196 that I'm constantly working on because it runs constantly when the weather plays along.
I grew up without go karts, only had power wheels until I had my own car. I'm mechanically capable, but less experienced with anything chain driven. So last year when we got the kart, it ran great forever, but breaks more often as time goes on.
The most recent issue is the constant chain breaking and jumping. It's one or the other and I'm looking for someone with experience to maybe throw me a better idea. So my daughter drives the go kart around our yard and it's not smooth everywhere. Some places it's bumpy as hell.
If I adjust the chain to where I'd expect it to be based on my other experience in life (chainsaws, etc) to where it's not loose, but has some movement, she drives 5 minutes and it jumps the chain. If I go to the other extreme and make it tight it'll run for 10 or 15 minutes and break the chain.
I've changed nothing chain related except the chain itself when the old rusty one broke, so I'm lost. Can anyone point me in a good direction? What chain brand do you all suggest?
Thanks
