    212 Engine Question

I have no idea how to post photos but when I operate the throttle, I turn the throttle directly with my finger. I am using no linkage. The governor is disconnected externally but I did not take the crankcase open to remove the governor parts. It ran well this way this winter when I was...

    212 Engine Question

I cut out the filter segment of the tank nozzle. The flow was good but the engine problems stayed the same. Pretty frustrating. I believe I am dealing with multiple problems and one resolution does not help. I can start the engine with the choke closed (on) but the throttle must be at least...

    212 Engine Question

The motor is about 2 years old and I did not buy it. I bought a kart with it on the kart. I did take the fuel tank off and allowed fuel to drain out of the fuel hose and into a can. The fuel flow was real slow. Not quite a dripping but not much more. I then took the nipple out of the bottom of...

    212 Engine Question

Thanks again. I was not sure how this "black" phenolic insulator mounted etc. Good info and another possibility of a vacuum leak. I have used a small amount of gasket maker on the gasket between the carb and the phenolic insulator. Started the engine with choke closed and the throttle partly...

    212 Engine Question

I just tried starting and running it with the fuel tank cap loose to confirm there was ventilation so the fuel could drain okay to the tank under load. It still did not have power unless the choke was closed most of the way. So I then took the newest carb off and something struck me. The new...

    212 Engine Question

I ordered a new carb again because the main jet would not come out with a screw driver. The carb I had trouble with was new in January and the engine ran great. Had not started it since mid February. I received the new carb today and put it on......same problem. It will start with choke closed...

    212 Engine Question

Wow Thanks for the great diagrams. It looks like this is a Honda diagram but the clone is almost identical. They are calling the brass screw with a spring around it the "pilot screw". It looks like from the fuel-air-mixture flow chart that the pilot screw and the pilot jet control the idle...

    212 Engine Question

Daniel you have been a lot of help. Thanks. I am just getting started in fooling with go karts. I like to drive them but I also have several neighbor kids and dads that love them too. Keeps kids off of their phones. I do have a lot of experience with Weber racing carbs as I have a 550 Spyder...

    212 Engine Question

So Daniel; you have a red arrow on the above photo. What is that? I took it out and expected to find a hole in the brass tube that is inserted in the plastic piece you show with red arrow. There is not a pass through hole in that brass tube. I tried running a torch tip cleaner through it and it...

    212 Engine Question

What is the idle screw supposed to be set at? 1 turn out, 2 turns out ???? Also, when i tried to take out the main jet (the long tube going up the middle of the bowl) it did not want to loosen or come out. Anyone seen this problem? Again, it was a new carb in january and has not been fooled with.

    212 Engine Question

I have completely taken the carburetor apart and cleaned it including the jets. It still has to have the choke closed and the throttle open to start it. If i try to open the choke it begins to die. I can only allow the choke to be about 15% open or it will die immediately. All this while, the...

    212 Engine Question

I have a go kart with a Predator 212 engine. I can get it started this spring as long as the choke is closed and I hold the throttle open at least halfway. It will not stay running if I open the choke. If I keep the throttle open I can open the choke about 15 % to 20 % of the way but if I let...

    so slow and boring...

https://www.instructables.com/id/Gas-Beating-Electric-Race-Kart/ Slow and Boring. Try this on for size. I drove several races in an indoor kart facility where the karts were all electric. A rush. Not boring. Great acceleration and as fast as you wanted to go on that track.

    Clutch Question

I bought a kart that has a clutch on a Predator engine. The clutch is always engaged as soon as the engine is started therefore it loads up and dies just as fast. Are these max torque clutches any good and are they adjustable? I do not see any way to adjust the clutch but may be missing something.

    Steering Wheel question

Steering Hub Question I am trying to find a kart steering hub that has 32 splines. I find other numbers such as 36 splines. Not sure what type of kart this old one is but if anyone knows these things I would appreciate a route to find a 32 spline hub. Thanks.

    Kart Tires

The guy I just bought an older kart from also sold me several sets of tires and some rims. Some are 6 inch rims and some are 5 inch. He said the 5 inch are for asphalt and the 6 inch are for dirt. Although I am new to karting at 73 I am aware of a lot of things racing and common sense. Is there...

    Steering Wheel question

I am trying to rebuild an older kart and do not have a steering wheel. The shaft is splined. What type of an adapter do I need with splines so I can mount a three bolt or other wheel? Does anyone have these parts for sale?
