A really long-term Sprint Kart experimental build

Well I guess I missed the more extreme points where he talked down to everyone. I saw a lot of himself building himself up with miraculous mind maneuvers, but he's really so much like my little brother in law in that regard that I guess I'm used to that lol. And yeah, I definitely ride the bent...

A really long-term Sprint Kart experimental build

Oh wow. Just read the entire build thread by Freerunner15 that has become such a cult favorite around here. I may have to just kill this thread now because I don't know if I can take the beating that he did lol. It may take me a long time to build this thing, but I AM trying to hand out some...

A really long-term Sprint Kart experimental build

Had some spare time before I go store away the rest of the Christmas decorations, soooo..... I mentioned a bit ago about the brakes. That's my priority, right along with driver restraint and protection. There's not a whole lot of protection at all contributed by the kart frame in a wooden...

A really long-term Sprint Kart experimental build

Welp...I'll go ahead and tell you up front that this project won't actually get going for a while yet. As I've mentioned elsewhere I've got some priority jobs at home to take care of before I can buckle down. But paper tigers have always been cheap, and I'm pretty practiced at paper tigers...

    Merry Christmas from Alabama!

Well I have to admit this project is hard to explain to the average kart builder. Most people kind of look at me like my little friend in my avatar pic is. They don't get why I'd rather do it the hard way. But I'm really not thinking a total wood design. My #1 goal is to be able to walk away...

    Merry Christmas from Alabama!

I hope everyone's Christmas was merry and peaceful. We had a snowless one, but it was still quiet and undisturbed. Happy kids and full belly, what more could you want? Thanks for the compliments and point taken on the round rubbers. My HF hand trucks has a better set on it. That tire spinning...

Need to know what brake fluid to use and need to bleed it..

Little helpful info on the fluid types: DOT 3: most common fluid in everything, attracts water DOT 4: like a juiced-up DOT 3...higher temp boiling point, but totally compatible, attracts water DOT 5: silicone-based, does not draw moisture, NOT compatible with ABS because it compresses more than...

    Free 3D modeling software?

I love SketchUp personally. The 30 days is the SketchUp Pro trial. After that it reverts to the regular version, which doesn't have quite as many bells and whistles, but which is much more than sufficient...and free. I've been using it for years now.

    New to karts.

My screwdrivers work together...when I need Phillips, they hide and send the flatheads to the front line. Turn about for when I need a flathead (for prying or chiselling). Some people want to kill the penny. I say eliminate flat slot screws...

    Merry Christmas from Alabama!

That's why a smart man wears really good goggles. :wai: I believe in 99% planning for every 1% of life risking. I've never even considered making a cheap copy because cheap will usually get you killed. Intelligently economical, on the other hand... Flatworks' design is a good one and I...

    Merry Christmas from Alabama!

Well there's building a frame out of wood, and then there's building a frame out of wood cunningly. Just like where with steel tubing you can make a frame much stronger by proper use of angles and mounting points, you can do that with wood too. In other words, it can be built way stronger than...

    Merry Christmas from Alabama!

Yes...but I'm not normal. I like to try things that aren't usually done, so because I have another hobby I really enjoy alot, I'm working up plans for something related to this: People who have bought and built that kit have been up over 30 mph on it with a 4hp Lifan, the biggest they supply...

    HF Predator Sale?

So they're not all Hemi's, huh? Is the difference that the Hemi doesn't qualify for CARB exemption? I take it that that's what the 730 is, since it falls in number sequence with the other HP Predators that ARE CARB exempt. I had the impression that EVERY 212 was a Hemi now. Good detail to know...

    Merry Christmas from Alabama!

Hi, everyone. I live in Jasper, Alabama, and I got my first kart at 6 years old. It was a Sears & Roebuck two seater with a 3.5hp Tecumseh and my brother and I had a blast with it til we were old enough to drive cars. Now that I've got my own kids grown up, I'm going to build a quick kart to...
