Don't start the engine without the belt installed, the driver may get locked open and you'll need to take it apart to fix it which can be a pain in the butt!!!!

Now it's looking better, just a sugestion, why don't you try and move the drive axle and jackshaft sprockets to the other side so that it is not all cramped up with the torque converter???

It is possible, only that you'll need to enlarge the center hole of the backplate where the engine shaft goes through and make it sloted or oval shaped and also drill new holes the bolts that will hold it to the engine, otherwise your driven will sit to close to the driver and the belt tension...

Well in fact that's a Comet 500 series, very nice cluth with a wide speed reduction ratio. The only solution I see for the driven misalignment issue is that you use a longer shaft and 2 pillowblock bearings bolted to the frame. ROFLOL!! no it's not a hose clamp, that was just laying around when I took the picture. I actually used a grinder to make a curve on the base of the pillowblock so that it will sit firmly over the frame tube. It's held in place by two bolts and nuts and the best part the pillowblocks holes are...

I saw the progress of your project and now you are headed in the right direction. The 44 series tc is a very nice clutch but like toofarnorth said you'll need to move the exhaust away from the belt or it will get fried. Here are some pics of my TC setup, it might help you a bit.

Wow a GX390 its too much of an engine for a 30 series tc in my opinion... Why dont you consider upgrading to at least a 40 series. They are ususally easier to adjust because they dont use a backplate for the driven jacksjaft. Heres a picture of my dingo with a GX390 and a comet 780 series TC...

This is a Comet 780 series wide ratio TC which means more torque and top end, I got this one (complete kit with belt) on Ebay for just $75 and believe me this thing combined with the GX390 makes my front tires go airborne easily.

Thanks Jared, the 780 is a very good clutch indeed (and looks even better), Today I measured the center to center distance between the driver and driven unit and it is about 9" so any belt near to that will work since I can adjust the driven unit's position so that the belt has the propper...

Is it burning out both sides of the belt? If it's only burning on side of it, then the units are misaligned or there's too much tension on the belt. Check out the belt's part number and find the propper center to center distance between the driver and driven units on www.gokartsupply.com on the...
