How To Seat The BEAD, Flaming VIDEO!

Just a tip... If you've never done this before and it doesn't take the first time, use way less ether on the second try. The air and gas inside the tire is hot from the first go and makes the next explosion much more volatile. We do this on truck tires all the time and I watched one brilliant...

Best material for frame (low budget)

You can buy that stuff on eBay used as cheap as steel... Actually waay cheaper than dom steel. I wouldn't use it either, but I build my own stuff.

Best material for frame (low budget)

I'm not sure it would hold up to a gokart frame but there's this? http://www.dyna-frame.com/

Predator 212cc EFI Turbo Shopping Kart Project

Might wanna turn that motor around unless you plan on backing up.. I turbo'd a flathead Briggs but I think the turbo was too big. It would spool it up but I doubt it actually built any manifold pressure.

Predator 212cc EFI Turbo Shopping Kart Project

Wow. That's quite ambitious for a first project.. Hope it works for you and good luck. Welcome to the site.

    streetmower

I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt and chalk it up to a bad translating program... I hope. Welcome anyways.. Sometimes life is boring.

    Here's another dumbass idea

Well you could mount your motor a little higher then run a belt or chain down to the drive shaft giving you gearing options. Otherwise, you'd have to run a Lovejoy coupling anyways so the cost would possibly be close to the same either way. On the other hand, I don't know much about what I'm...

Tuned muffler replacement for Briggs and Stratton 5HP engine

Because I had three projects at the time along with two customer bikes and I felt a little overwhelmed. Posted it up on craigslist for a high price and someone bought it... It wasn't even finished, just lacked paint...

Tuned muffler replacement for Briggs and Stratton 5HP engine

Ya the list gets long. I just sold my xs650 brat so I've been thrashing on getting my next build on the road so I have something to ride.. It's still o long ways looks like.

    Mini quad build

You guys would have to understand 'me' a little better to fully comprehend the situation. I'm not saying your suggestions aren't useful, knowledgeable, and no doubt the best course of action. I just tend to be, well... different. My hobby is building motorcycles. Hardtail, barebones, out of the...

Tuned muffler replacement for Briggs and Stratton 5HP engine

That's a really neat looking kart and from what you described it will look awesome when finished! Nice to see a fellow bike builder around too. Wouldn't mind seeing some pics of those projects too sometime...

first kart build (learning to weld)

Nice build! I love to see projects that come to life from the ground up. I built a mini chopper to learn to weld 11 years ago and it was a great experience. The only problem I see, and I don't know if it's a problem because I tend to over engineer stuff, is the front axle where the angle is...

    Mini quad build

Because it's junk. The whole frame is total junk. If it moves it wears out extremely quick. It will ride way better rigid than it would before and suspension wouldn't help that much on something this small anyway. Almost all mini bikes are rigid... Plus, I'm just killing time and building this...

    Mini quad build

I cut the ends off the stock shocks and welded in 5/8" solid bar to make struts. It's sits nice and low now but I need to adjust the camber.

Ok.. So what target top speed should I plan for and what rpm can I expect from the flathead?

    Mini quad build

Not being snarky, just curious. If it doesn't work, I can add a jackshaft and still utilize the same sprockets.

    Mini quad build

60 tooth calculates at 30 mph at 4000 rpm. I've ridden gokarts heavier than this that go faster than 30 on a clutch. So.... Why is this not gonna work?

    Mini quad build

True that. I may have to redo the frame in that area. I'm trying to get away with as little fab as possible just because of the time factor... I figured the speed with my current setup and I come up with around 75 mph. Lol. Biggest sprocket I can find that bolts up is a 60t. It might work...

    Mini quad build

I'm using a 420 chain. I will probably have to get a bigger driven sprocket. The 32t is what was on the quad in its former glory. So if I can run the clutch like that, everything lines up pretty well. I still have the clearance issue but I may just use a skateboard wheel to hold it up since...
