    how does this sound?

Very nice work on the pedal setup... as you know, a few pictures "look" easy to do, but they represent a ton of work. Nice work on the Northern Pike!!! Holy crap! As far as your shifter setup... you may have to take the plate off your crank-case and take a look at how accessible the...

    Arachnid build finally started!!!

Nice work so far from another "Arachnid fan". Even in the face of multiple changes to the original plans... DON'T GIVE UP. You can private-message me "PM" me anytime if you think there's just "no way" to go on... I've been there. Cheers to good Go-Karts!

    Twin Arachnids Build

Thank you for all your kind words! I proposed to her on Navy Pier in Chicago. We took Amtrak from Minnesota to downtown Chicago. All-in-all I'm the happiest guy in the world. And yes... she loves the Go-Karts... I'm just beginning to learn how to SAVE money, instead of "saving" money.;) Thanks...

    Twin Arachnids Build

jdh!!! Good to hear from you!!! We still have to go riding in S. Minnesota. Maybe later this Fall.... Anyways...well, we have been "driving" our karts around a bit... but still without full brakes. (need longer hydraulic tubing lines) But I can tell you this: When we would rev-up the engine...

    Twin Arachnids Build

Extension Hey XPOEDUNKX, it is a challenging build. I tried to write down what we extended/widened throughout the build, but honestly, we didn't change all that much. We extended the MainFrame by 10" in lengh. We Extended the RearFrame by 10" in length. (these numbers came from us sitting in...

    help with arachnid build

Our karts do pretty well off road. Right now, I can't give you a lot of feedback on steering, seeing as I just haven't had any freeeking time lately work work on them. The tie-rod heim joints need to be closer to the spindle, to allow for tighter turning, and now that the suspension has been...

    help with arachnid build

I would start your own personal build-thread. Don't worry about making videos of you building it... you will soon learn that there just isn't time if you want to finish your Arachnid within a few months. You are doing well pre-planning so far. Once you start welding, I would start your...

    Clutch issues

Hey, sorry for the late reply... if you go here:http://www.diygokarts.com/speed-calculator.html You will see how to calculate your overall speed (maybe your kart is geared too high/fast) BUT: to calculate your overall gear ratio, you need to count the number of teeth on the back of your torque...

    help with arachnid build

Good idea... get it mobile, and dial-in the gearing, and get the steering exact, and then... later down the line, the mods will be fun. I am to the point now, where I can list on one hand our mods that are left... finally!

    help with arachnid build

Here's all I have at the moment for a walk around. The still photos from our build do a lot more justice on complete building of the rear end. Good Luck! Edit: Have you bought the plans yet? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FUkinKvljUk&feature=youtu.be

    help with arachnid build

MY GOODNESS! If you have the funds... and the time to make the REAR fully independent... DO IT! I will say... the Arachnid rear-end called for in the plans is simple, and it keeps the cost down, but it's not as "amazing" as fully independent rear suspension. I'd love to see it completed.

    would this transmission design work

Sweet... I can't wait to see it all come to life... don't give up.

    would this transmission design work

Hey, not to be "that one guy" that suggests something totally random, but I've seen (on older "Bobcat" loaders) manually-operated CVTs that are built using a regular wide-belt, but two pulley-plates that slide on a greased shaft, operated by ONE lever that the rider moves. This setup is also...

    Clutch issues

I have also experienced a "chirp" when my 40 series engages on a kart that I personally think is geared too HIGH. My new belt actually was doing well even with the "chirp" to get it fully engaged. When I was done riding, I felt the belt, and it was pretty dang hot... I'm afraid that I will be...

    would this transmission design work

Check this out: I have used this idea before on a kart years ago. Here is a F-R belt driven "transmission" ... looks like they are driving off the back side of a belt though... not sure... can't tell. A great idea though!!!: your own transmission... would you have 3 seperate levers, one for...

    Kart Build

Very nice... looks way more comfy than my black poly-chair with a cover... Although, I would be careful ever leaving that seat out in the rain, or getting it wet... might get a bit musty.

    Twin Arachnids Build

Yeah, they are both mobile, but the brake systems aren't set up quite yet.... so they are like adrenaline-karts. The throttle setups are still a bit crude, and need back-stops to prevent someone from going too far, and bending the armatures or breaking the cables. The seats still have their blue...

More No messing around today... I impacted the hubs on as you can see, and used lock-tight on the keys. These things need every bit of extra support they can get
