Honda Engines. Red or Black ?

Saw a 5 horse Honda on CL last night. Guy returned my call today, says it's on a commercial low pressure sprayer and runs good.Confirmed it's horizontal shaft. Then he says,"Now this ain't no red Honda,it's a black one. I didn't ask what's the difference,but..... what is it? I figured I'd get a...

Can brake bands be "re-lined" ?

Turns out it is,at least Klinger is.We reattached the band with loctite epoxy with 302* heat resistance. It held fine, but the band only lasted about 1/2 hour.:furious2: We'll give it another shot after Christmas, maybe with leather this time. You guys have a Merry Christmas! We going to see the...

What is the material of these bushes?

I think maybe Delrin.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polyoxymethylene My hobie cats have many parts made from a material that looks the same. It "feels" like milk jug plastic, but slides on itself effortlessly.

Can brake bands be "re-lined" ?

Well, back to the old drawing board. The contact cement lasted for about 5 power slides, then broke loose and shot out the top of the band. Stayed intact though,so next stop,Epoxytown. and Blaz,it cost 5 bucks.

Can brake bands be "re-lined" ?

Yeah, lol, when I mentioned gasket material in the OP,I had no idea this stuff existed. The label reads "brake lining for 76-067",which is a snowthrower outer drive. We don't have a real big demand for snowthrowers around here.;) I'll say this though,I cut off the excess with a dremel...

    Dingo needs work, TC?

FWIW,mine is a similar setup on a Manco Bandit II except the axle sprocket on mine is on the right side. It's now got a 10 tooth clutch sprocket going to a 14 tooth jackshaft sprocket. The other end of the j/s has a 10 tooth sprocket turning a 60 tooth axle sprocket. The grease coming out of your...

Can brake bands be "re-lined" ?

Alright dudes,I'm officially bringing the DIY to DIY Go Karts. I didn't find anything to my liking,so I stopped by the local power equipment shop and picked up this for 5 bucks. [/IMG] It's called Thermoseal Klinger and is used by Toro as an inner drum brake band. P/N 76-002 It's about 3/16"...

    Car advice

I'd look for an old Honda or Yota. I've been driving an '87 civic as a work beater.paid $500 for it.put in a wheel bearing and been getting a reliable 33 mpg for the past 12K miles. Driving home 3 weeks ago I spotted an '86 accord, gave $850 for it and have already been offered $1500. They're...

Can brake bands be "re-lined" ?

Got 2 sister's in that area.We used to run all over Mint Hill and Stallings.:wai: I found the thread on it. http://www.diygokarts.com/vb/showthread.php?t=10697 I was thinking of rivets at the end also, but they may compromise band strength. JB weld is hard and inflexible,so I'm...

    Manco Dingo Rebuild

That thing looks great Mike! That blue and gold color scheme is a good choice. My son and I just got a Manco Bandit II,and got it running last night. If you go into the torque converter, post up some pics.I'm thinking of doing one myself. and you may want to check the brake band lining if that's...

Noob with a jackshaft sprocket question

^ I had to think about that one for a sec.:D Just took it for a test drive. Ran great. Wish I had thought to clean the rust off the brake drum, though. Brake lining caught hell. The first couple inches peeled off,so i'm thinking maybe i'll try a glue/rivet experiment. I'm also eyballing an old...

Noob with a jackshaft sprocket question

Hey,got my parts in and got started, but the problem i'm having now is the axle chain doesn't seem to fit the axle sprocket. When I spin the rear wheel, with no tension, the chain seems to "climb" the teeth until it finally crosses the peak and falls into the next valley. Would that make it #35...
