High Compression GX200 - Oil blowing out valve cover, gas blowing out the carb

That's a good point, just need to control the flow. I bought one of those IV line drip flow adjuster to try too. clamps any hose from the outside. It was in the same store as the shutoff valve and I had to get some Y fittings too, so might as well buy 'em all at the same time and save shipping.

High Compression GX200 - Oil blowing out valve cover, gas blowing out the carb

Yeah, I don't think they have long term resistance to gasoline. I did order a stainless one. Should arrive tomorrow.

Those sure do look simple. I'll try and order one tomorrow. Best solution for sure.

High Compression GX200 - Oil blowing out valve cover, gas blowing out the carb

Fair enough. You can maybe see in the picture it's only a few degrees, 5 maybe? I'll work on the fuel situation. I will do something similar. I don't have the right valve but I can make a Y fitting with a restriction on the return line. I was thinking to use PE main jets for the restrictions on...

High Compression GX200 - Oil blowing out valve cover, gas blowing out the carb

Since my intake is homemade, they are not all the same. The angle varies a bit. I noticed yesterday on that tube it angles the other direction to yours by a few degrees. Some are neutral (0deg). I will try machining a .040" or so off on an angle to drop it a bit.

High Compression GX200 - Oil blowing out valve cover, gas blowing out the carb

Yeah, this makes sense that the fuel pump is overpowering the needle. What would a bypass circuit look like?. On these racing go karts, the take is under the steering wheel and lower than the carb. They all have a pump, even with the stock GX200 carb. This really sounds like we've zero'ed in on...

High Compression GX200 - Oil blowing out valve cover, gas blowing out the carb

I think that's just for that picture. I did reconnect it every time I took off the bowl. The screw is completely closed. I find it a pain, those tubes get stiff so quickly and then have a loose fit. Then I zip tie the tube, but it's annoying. I will certainly consider deleting it.

High Compression GX200 - Oil blowing out valve cover, gas blowing out the carb

The intake runner is homemade, though I took inspiration from a commercial tube. The commercial one is 26mm ID which seemed a bit large in my mind. My tube is 24mm ID. I can try the 26mm one and see if it improves things. The length is hard to make shorter, the rear wheel of the kart is in the...

Yes, there is a fuel pump. Driven off a barb on the intake tube.

I'm making some progress on my engines. I have 1 that runs OK, it's been a few hours on the track, no issues besides the carb and I'll get to that in a second. I have second engine with a new connecting rod, added a oil scoop to the dipper (There is a thread on that) that runs pretty well now...

Designing a connecting rod, I'd love some insights on how stock rods fail etc.

I've got an update and I'm going to split it up. I'll keep the connecting rod related stuff here, and I'm going to update my thread on "blowing gas out the carb" because that's what it's doing and I think it's best to keep things together so they might be easier for someone else to find in the...

Hmm, well I can try bigger. Fair, and the point was to put something together quickly to test the connecting rod. But part of my goal is to learn what is a usable part and what really is too junky. For example the crank is used but it has a solid cam gear. My other new cranks all have sintered...

before I go too far down the carb tuning route, there seems to be oil in the cylinder and on the head. Thick black buildup on the inside of the head. To me, this indicates a much larger issue. Since this engine is mostly used parts, I need to look for any mechanical issues. The good news, the...

I ran the engine today with the new connecting rod. I might have left a small bur on the through hole, there is a groove now. Overall though it looks much better than the previous one. A little wear around the hole under magnification. inconclusive if it's an improvement of any kind at this kind...

I have taken out the emulsion tube and it has 4 holes on top and 4 on the bottom. I did a web search and found images of an "upgraded emultion tube" with lots of holes, but the regular one seems to have 4 on top and 4 on the bottom. On the online store I use, they sell 3 versions, 8, 16 and 30...

Any chance you can dig up a picture of that exhaust? I'd love to take a look. Sounds great

I have all those drills, so no issue there. I can drill out some of those holes in the emulsion tube. It's possible it's the valves, though I have this issue with at least 3 different heads. The head that's on this engine is heavily modified, but likely max restriction is the intake runner as...

I'm not good at carburetors, that's true. I got a PE22 dialed in pretty well for a previous engine, but these PWK's I just can't seem to lean out, no matter what I do. The PE22 was a super cheap copy and leaks terribly, so I was trying to get better carbs. I've tried PWK21, and several PWK24s...

@Darren thanks for the pics, I'm sure the copy I have is exact. I can't see hole I'm unsure of, you can see it in a previous post, but since everything else is exactly the same, I'm pretty confident that hole is in the original as well. @RLS_Underground It's a hole very similar to what I made...

Try number 2... I'll clean the engine thoroughly and try again tomorrow. I'm not sure it was worth the effort to drill the hole on angled towards the center. The geometry of the scoop limits the angle as does the bolt hole and it complicates the machine setup as you have to angle the part in 2...
