The only reason I can think of to remove the battery would be to clean it. Just have to unplug the main battery plug and loosen the straps for it to come right out. The display would remain wired in by a few quick connectors.

I really struggle welding aluminum. If its right in front of me I can usually do ok. Most of the time it's not. I always seem to be reaching at some awkward angle, going in some undesirable direction. Its a real challenge.

Added a mount on the steering wheel clamp block for a push pull cable. Built a bearing block for the rudder shaft with a plastic bearing so it will pivot smoothly, and I won't have to worry about a future rusty bearing. I made sleeves out of titanium for the bolt pivot holes.

Ultra high molecular weight polyethylene. It's a dense material that can handle impacts without taking damage, and has a very low coefficient of drag. Aluminum on rocks creates a lot of drag. With UHMW I can drive right over a gravel bar like its sliding on ice.

Installed 3/8" thick UHMW to the bottom. This will add some weight and cause drag, but the bottom will be able to handle harder impacts and it will slide way better over rocks.

These are weld on washers used to hold UHMW on the bottom of my boat. Probably work for .45.

Cut the 6 flats on the end of the shaft to fit the propeller. Did lots of welding to the tunnel. Next is to make the end of the tunnel curve back down. That was one of the rules I read about on tunnel hulls. It has to curve back down.
