Problem with after market driven pulley on trail master

Spark plug type? Spark plug gap? Wrong gap, or wrong type adding more resistance and heat in the ignition system? Wrong heat range?

Problem with after market driven pulley on trail master

Or try the old flywheel. Maybe the magnet on $30 flywheel isn’t working the way it should? Not sure how a magnet wouldn’t work right, but who knows? Both coil and magnet don’t work as well when hot.

Problem with after market driven pulley on trail master

Try a new coil. It’s like $15. Still sounds like fuel bowl not filling fast enough or the coil. Or test the one you have if you have a multi meter with OHM setting. you suggested the ignition coil when this started when you said the “Stator” was bad, then I suggested it, then I suggested it...

Problem with after market driven pulley on trail master

Who knows with China jets? I use a set of tiny drill bits and calipers. I don’t trust those markings on China jets to be accurate. Could be a size 85 jet from any number of companies, could be 0.85mm, I never know which sizing they use unless I buy official jets. 1.00mm = 0.039” 0.95mm =...

Problem with after market driven pulley on trail master

Yes if screw is on the engine side it controls fuel. Turn in to allow less fuel, which makes it more LEAN. Turn it out to allow more fuel, which makes it more RICH. Out of curiosity, I asked chatGPT what the usual jetting required for gx200 clone with cone filter and 1” straight pipe with no...

Problem with after market driven pulley on trail master

Different type of carb but… First I tune the pilot jet, then the main jet after the pilot jet and air/fuel mixture screw There is an overlap when both pilot and main jets are providing fuel. It’s easier to get it main jet dialed after the pilot jet.

Problem with after market driven pulley on trail master

Right out of the hole might be the pilot jet. It controls idle and when start from a stop. I model that the main jet doesn’t kick in until 3/4 throttle. These carbs sometimes are hard to tune for smashing full throttle from stop. You can also try easing into full throttle slowly - as...

Throttle linkage works properly to keep butterfly valve open when on it? I assume some changes were made after removing the governor?

That seal just keeps oil in and dirt out. 0.003” should be fine. You are setting lash when both valves are closed right? At a specific point of rotation like piston at top dead center of compression stroke? you are sure you aligned the dots correctly on the camshaft and and crankshaft gears...

Based on how this has gone, I will suggest a valve job and new piston rings before I suggest the coil again. Lol

Problem with after market driven pulley on trail master

Leaks from where? If leaking from carb… it means issue with float, float needle, needle spring, or needle seat, right? This is the system that turns off the fuel supply so fuel can or cannot enter the bowl. When fuel level raises the float, the needle on the spring pushes against the needle jet...

    Hello All-Advice needed.

I would expect 3600 RPM to be closer to 28 mph with that set up. if the gearbox was backwards, I’d expect 3600 rpm to be 14mph. Is the tire pressure maxed out?

    Hello All-Advice needed.

    Does that mean 1.2 :1 in F and 2.6 :1 in reverse?
  15. bob58o

    Hello All-Advice needed.

20 mph might be right for 3600 rpm with a governor. -What size TIRE diameter? -What sprockets are you using? How many teeth on the gearbox? How many on the axle? -What gearbox is it? I’ll have to look up the internal reduction ratio of the gearbox unless you know it.

    Budgeting Help!!! (please)

Also I didn’t see you mention a rear sprocket. Unless it is attached to the set of wheels you already own (as a drive wheel would be set up on a single drive wheel kart). You need a rear sprocket to attach by chain to the clutch (or gearbox output sprocket if using a gearbox). If the axle...

What’s the cheapest braking system if you can fabricate it… Maybe a “Scrub Brake”? Not the best option, but GoKarts brakes are often overrated. LOL. I figure if I can turn, stopping is less important. LOL. Kidding… safety is important.
