This will do. I really do hate undoing things. lol

Does a gas tank really need to be removable? I wouldn’t mind just welding it to the frame.

Well now my holes need adjusting. The 5/16” bolt now only fits by threading it through the straightened tab. And the holes aren’t really aligned any more. And tightening down nut on top of the weld doesn’t really work either. Not sure how it was supposed to work. Maybe an Allen head type...

Smashing in the vise was the correct answer. No cutting needed.

I thought about turning the tank around but I don’t care about aesthetics enough to undo things that I’ve done. It’ll hold gas and that will do. It does look better backwards. Nah I don’t want to cut the seat apart. It is the nicest looking part of the bike. It won’t look nice after I get...

I wish the teardrop shape of the tank was less teardroppy. It just looks off with square front of the seat and the pointed back of the tank. It’s like my brain does not like it. Like a round peg in a square hole.

Since I can’t find my calipers, it’s looks like the major dia of the threads are 1/2” and the minor dia is about 3/8” I just like to learn the proper way to do things, then do it any ole way.

Maybe still a little cold? Getting better I think. This was wire speed about 9 of 10. I’m not sure if age of wire matters? The old stuff was probably 8 years old at least. Plus have not using the anti-spatter the new wire. Update: I guess shelf life is two years.

Might give that a try. I’ll probably do a few small cuts from each side first. I know nothing about sheet metal but was worried just smashing without cutting might compromise the tank in another area because it’s welded in a few spots. I’m now looking into how to best insert these inserts into...

Predator 212 won’t start no matter what I do

Stock carbs with governors and stock throttle linkages keep the throttle cracked opened while starting. When switching to an aftermarket carb with no governor and new throttle linkages, you have to crack the throttle slightly on your own when starting. Perhaps this is obvious? Or maybe not...

Now I think I’d like to bend this tang so the back of the tank sits a bit lower but not really sure how to do it. This tank doesn’t really work for me but it’ll do fine. Because it’s curved and welded I don’t think bending it will be as easy as I thought. Cut slots from each side to just in...

This seems a little better than some of the others I’ve done. The round tube is only 1/16” wall so maybe that helps a bit?

5/16-18x 2-1/2” I ordered for pickup from Home Depot. Do not do this. I noticed the 2-1/2” bolt looked about an inch short. The girl behind the counter decided to measure. Somebody probably taught her that the lines as the beginning of a tape measure are not really visible so she measured...

But you still want the seats attached in front of the pivot point, right?
