Have any experience with 2strokes outside of your weed eater? Weight to power ratio is hard to beat. And when/if it does blow up it is much cheaper and easier to rebuild. Only thing is with something like a cr250 or banshee 350 you are either going full bore balls to the wall or lugging...

What you are going to want is a heavy duty 24-60v 1hp+ motor, 200-500+ amp controller and enough battery juice to run it(can handle 200+ amps for more then a few seconds). The power to price ratio of this cant be beat. ebay will hopefully be coming out with holiday 10-20% coupons in the next...

That motor is a beast. Run her at 36v and she will have no problem moving that kart with 2 people in it. Get a 190amp + controller for it.(40$ on ebay) If it gets hot change the gearing. You hit the nail on the head here.

I have had great luck running R/C lipo batteries. Can be had cheap if you watch for sales. So far we are using them in multiple electric motorcycles, gokarts and powerwheels. But read up on the safety concerns and best practices before using them.
