Anyone ever try an Affordable Bender?

plans are only suggestions, adapt and overcome! Known as empirical engineering! l bought a unaffordable pro tools bender 25 years ago when i had a job. l'm glad l have it but to buy it today would be difficult at best!

You dont sound like your need advice, yer a man with a plan. Discussing alternate materials and methods benefits the youngn's and the less experienced among us, so an occasional re hash of the basics is a good thing.

Anyone ever try an Affordable Bender?

Only the builder/operator can decide on what to use, obviously. We use whats we can afford, fits our needs and can be massaged into what we want with the tools/processes available to us. I use DOM all the time, but i scored a bunch for scrap price. We are mostly backyard fabricators, without...

Anyone ever try an Affordable Bender?

HREW tubing is plenty strong as well. While DOM is mo bedder, HREW is significantly le$$ mooola. I have built a few roll cages from HREW on some heavy pigs. They held up well to unintended field testing. The end use of the vehicle is a big factor in material choice. A weld failure is far more...

I know ya'll know that tubing and pipe have different OD sizes, so this is a free public service announcement to remind ya'll to buy the right tool for the material ya wanna bend. Pipe and rigid conduit are the same OD and EMT (thin wall) conduit is another size. Yer Welcome!

That sounds like work! No way could i find the tools and materials to complete a complex task such as that in less time than a trip down to the village hardware store for plugs. The whole mess will be lost in a maze of tubing, suspension and other car stuff.

Interestingly enough, those are sumkinda metricated flared pipe fitting thingy. A 1/4 NPT plug fits nicely. I had one, needed four. The plugs are just to keep dirt out. That is the valve thingy that sends hydraulic fluid to the "power steering" AKA hydraulic cylinder, with steering input. That...

This Subaru rack looks like it will work out nicely. so it looks like this when done. The plan is to use it single ended offset to the right. The angle if the input shaft will need a u-joint wiggley thing to fix the angle. Sure the 90° input shaftwould be nice, but they cost real money, this...

Late 80' Subaru legacy. part number? seriously? the japs are no dummies i'd bet they are all the same. ( not the japs, the racks) it takes a lot of modding, i cut about 16 inches off of it. the hydraulic assist part is gone. It takes some lathe work, so the conversion is not for everyone. that...
