    Motor Selection for New Project

Thanks for the reply! I live in a hilly area and my mobility scooter is rather heavy so I think a 2,000 W will work well. I was honestly concerned because my intuition said that this tiny motor from china can't feasibly put out that much power but everything I've read contradicts that. Glad to...

    Motor Selection for New Project

Alright, thanks for the tip! I read through and it seems like my 2kw with 4 18ah SLAs should work out, I'll make sure to post if it works. Thanks again!

    Motor Selection for New Project

Hi Everyone, I haven't posted in a while so please let me know if I'm doing something wrong. I am souping up a mobility scooter but in terms of power transmission and motor selection I think the process should be the same. The scooter, without a motor or battery, weighs about 110lbs and I am...

Engine started once and won't start again

Ok didn't know that! I'll run a continuity test and if it falls it's like $10 so I'm not concerned.

Engine started once and won't start again

I replaced it because the brushed were very damaged after my attempts to fix it as well as one of the spring went missing. I'm confident something will happen after this fix but I'll see. I will update after I replace it.

Engine started once and won't start again

Ok well, I can diagnose that after I replace the starter motor.

Engine started once and won't start again

Here is the engine (https://www.ebay.com/itm/113838576087?ul_noapp=true). Small update, I worked think what happened was my connections were poor to the battery so I fixed them but I also decided to take apart my starter motor to see if it was the problem and now I can't put it back together...

Engine started once and won't start again

But it clicks, could it still be broken? Would that also be why I don't get a spark?

Engine started once and won't start again

After my last post I got the wiring to work and fired up the engine. I don't have a chain on yet but I thought it would be fine. When I went back to start it again I noticed that the negative battery terminal was very hot and that the plastic covering was burning. I cleaned both terminals and...

    No spark on engine

Ok, I will look into that, thanks!

    No spark on engine

Success! Maybe? I got the new coil and plugged it in but nothing change so then I decided to see what would happen if I bypassed the solenoid and attached the two things directly (can provide pics if needed). The engined made a starting sound as if something was spinning it. I immediately...

    No spark on engine

Ok, I'll try that after I replace the coil. Update: A wire from the starter may be wired wrong, working on it now! Update 2: One of the wires was not grounded properly and it is now. The plug still won't spark and before I mess with the stator I want to look at every wire. Can someone post a...

    No spark on engine

In response to Brianator, my coil has two wire coming out of it, is that what you mean? I'll try unhooking the kill switch and turning out the lights. I think my ground it ok, I ran a continuity test with my multimeter and the negative on the battery went to all non-painted parts of the frame...

    No spark on engine

So what do you thing that thread is for? I ordered a replacement when I broke it just in case, I'll try it Friday but in the meantime are there any tests I could do? I have it grounded to a bolt going into the frame.

    No spark on engine

Here is a pic(https://imgur.com/a/BRcOAVi). The kill switch is grounded to the engine block just like everything else, CDI, coil, etc.

    No spark on engine

Hi all, I'm new to this forum so please tell me if I do something wrong. I have been working on a drift trike for 2 months now and I got to wiring it. All of this is new to me so it took some time but I found a diagram that I could understand and got it all wired. I only had to solder one set of...
