Engine started once and won't start again

After my last post I got the wiring to work and fired up the engine. I don't have a chain on yet but I thought it would be fine. When I went back to start it again I noticed that the negative battery terminal was very hot and that the plastic covering was burning. I cleaned both terminals and ground and it stopped. Now my engine won't start again, no spark and no starter motor. When I click ignition all I hear is a click from the solenoid.

But it clicks, could it still be broken? Would that also be why I don't get a spark?

Here is the engine (https://www.ebay.com/itm/113838576087?ul_noapp=true). Small update, I worked think what happened was my connections were poor to the battery so I fixed them but I also decided to take apart my starter motor to see if it was the problem and now I can't put it back together. Would a broken starter motor affect my spark?

I replaced it because the brushed were very damaged after my attempts to fix it as well as one of the spring went missing. I'm confident something will happen after this fix but I'll see. I will update after I replace it.

Ok didn't know that! I'll run a continuity test and if it falls it's like $10 so I'm not concerned.
