Care to elaborate? Are you referring to steering wheel angle or kingpin angle? I went with 7° caster and 2° camber. I want it to handle well at speed but also be easy enough for my son to steer at lower speeds. Emphasis on easy to steer. Perhaps this is why it looks 'golfkarty'.

I wish I had more to report but progress has been slow.. I finished the adjustable seat frame, changed the kart to a single seater, welded the pedal mounts on, added big plate gussets to the frame jog in the rear (as Jamyers suggested!), and started the final weld up! I also fired up the honda...

Got the roll cage tacked in place. I think I've finally got a design im happy with and getting close to the final weld up.

Do you know of any decent baloon tires made for 5" rims? I've seen a lot for 6" rims.

Quick update! Some parts arrived, including the torque converter and chain. Sprocket is on order. I also cut out a bunch of the smaller pieces such as gussets, seatbelt mounts, engine mount, floor mounting tabs, pedal mounts, etc. The small details truly do take the most time.. I wasn't happy...

Another update! I haven't had a whole lot of time to work on the kart but I managed to get the roll cage made up and tacked in place. After a few test fits I'm feeling less confident that I'll be driving this gokart. It turned out quite a bit smaller than expected :) oh well! It'll be perfect...

That weight pack sounds like a really nifty bolt on item! I think I'll end up going that route, and saving money on sprockets as you mentioned. The easy adjustability is very enticing. For now, I've still got to finish welding the frame and cage. I'm hoping to be mounting the engine and torque...

Thanks itsid and landuse! Very helpful info guys. Im going to go with a larger rear sprocket to get the torque and lower speed, most likely in the 54 to 60 tooth range. I'd rather it be slow and safe. The kids can always change the sprocket down the road when they feel the need for speed...
