Gokart runs flawlessly, BUT IT WONT STOP!

I did as you said and just touched the wire to to the steel and the engine shut off. But, i then hooked up the wire to the key and blah.. nothing. I even grinded off the paint where it makes contact and still not working. That has to be the problem. I guess I will have to try something else...

Gokart runs flawlessly, BUT IT WONT STOP!

gotcha, so I couldn't hold they key/ignition in my hand and have it working properly. Due to it only have one terminal, I assume it's the contact it makes with the kart that's suppose to ground it. This is a picture i just took. The one with one hole in the end is the one that was originally...

Gokart runs flawlessly, BUT IT WONT STOP!

The on/off switch on the actualy engine itself has a wire that's grounded to the block, but what about they key on the kart? it's just one wire that connects to the wire coming out the other side of the switch. Is that all the key needs is one wire?

Gokart runs flawlessly, BUT IT WONT STOP!

Ok, i took the gokart out of the shed. It's been a few months since I've run it. I have one of the cheap greyhound 6.5 hp engines on it. I cranked it up and on the 2nd pull it started. Then, i realized that they key (on the gokart itself) i had wired to it was off. The on/off switch on the...

    Replaced clutch, is now smoking

I only weigh around 170. I didnt really ride the brakes too much with the original clutch. I did use them a little more than normal though b/c the idle was set so high. If i just let the go kart sit there with the engine running, it will run forever and not smoke. It's not till about 30 secs...

    Replaced clutch, is now smoking

The original clutch on my thunderkart started smoking after about 1-2 mins of actually riding around. I figured I messed it up becuase i had to set the idle reallly high so it wouldnt kill. That of course meant that as soon as i started the engine, the go kart wanted to move. So I got a new...

    Wiring up the ignition key

I"m replacing a tecumseh 5hp with a 6.5hp greyhound and I'm not sure where to hook up the wire that comes from the key ( the physical key that you have to turn on/off that is located on the steering wheel). Honestly I'm not even sure how it works since it's just one wire. Can anyone help?
