If its a pull start, the screeching/grinding noise is the wratchet sticking because the bearings are gunked up. to fix that take the pull starter off, open the wratchet(careful not to lose the ball bearings), hose it down with carb and choke cleaner till its good, put a little oil on the end of...

any napa or m/c shop is a good place to find parts... check your local junkyard if you want to be on the cheaper side...

yes i do believe the govener is disconnected. tell me what do you have to do to disconnect the govener and ill check... its a briggs and stratton 5hp

My engine started knockin awhile ago and when i took it apart this bar was rubbing and knockin on the crank. i wiggled it and it fell out in my hand. :oops: Does this bar need to be there?

is a briggs 5.5... its my beater kart... that thing has been through hell...hey osscryu1, if i post some photosof the back of my mag and side of engin can u possibaly tell me how to attach my killswitch?

ok... you could also just use a bicycle speedometer also for $4-6 at your local wall-mart...:roflol:

When i start my engin up, it runs good at first but then when i start to ride it after a min or so it starts screechin and after a second or two it dies... i cant kill it in time cause it dont have a killswitch... wtf is going on?:confused:

I would keep it and store it or start it at 250, or best offer yea i really wouldnt sell it....

Forgive my spelling, but it looks like a 5.5 briggs and stratton motor with a home built frame... For returning the throtle to its idle position you want to add (if not already there) spring directly to the throtle to some point on the engein that pulles the throtthe tight to the idle position...
