Broken Axle.....to live axle swap or not.

Update: Had a the broken axle end (grade 8 bolt that had been poorly welded, then ground down) cut off and a grade 5 bolt welded back in, properly. Lasted about 2 weeks and now the new bolt has broken. I think it had to do with my clutch not staying firmly attached to the output shaft on the...

Need some get up and go.

Have the Murray back up and running. New 72T and 80T sprockets are on order. That should help with the get up a go situation. I also had the broken axle fixed. Looks like the original bolt used for the axle broke sometime and was repaired...poorly. The weld had no penetration (you can see...

Broken Axle.....to live axle swap or not.

Got the Murray up and running today. Drove well although it took forever to get up to speed. Was looking at a sprocket swap and planned to order tonight. Then the drive wheel side of the axle broke. So...after one wheel peeling the yard today...a live axle might be nice, but not sure of...

Need some get up and go.

We drove the cart around some today. Probably an hour total. On the long driveway down the vineyard we were able to get it to 29 mph...downhill. The kids loved it. I was going to detail it out tomorrow....clean it up, touch up paint, clean/paint the wheels, put a few decals on it.... ...and...

Need some get up and go.

Here is the setup....but it may be a moot point. Murray Red The Clutch/Sprocket Setup I am thinking the govenor is engaging as the cart is slow to ramp up RPM's and then doesn't seem to ever get to what should be wide open. As for a moot point....the engine side axle spindle broke. Now I...

Need some get up and go.

I may have reconnected the long spring in the governor arm in a different hole than it originally was. Would that matter in my situation? The holes are numbered/lettered. I think I now have it in hole 6. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Need some get up and go.

Got the Murray running this evening. It has a 900series B&S mated to a 60T drive sprocket with 12T clutch. 15” rear tires. It takes a couple seconds to start to move...them picks up speed slow but steady....then it ready picks up speed. It’s a one wheel peel, but doesn’t spin till it it...

    New From NC

My new clutch/chain set and new brake band came today. Was able to run a new brake cable and set up the throttle cable to work properly. Clutch slipped on easily and was able to get it and the axle sprocket aligned....but the sprocket is for a size 40 chain. I checked and can't get a 40 chain...

    Briggs 900 Series Output Shaft

I did run a bolt into the end of the shaft to protect it. My puller wouldnt budge it...cant get much of a grip on the edge of whats left of the clutch. Will be putting some heat to it tomorrow after church. Hopefully that will help get it to move. ---------- Post added at 07:17 PM...

Yeah...I thought it looked like a clutch part....but hoped it wasn't! Any thought as to the correct clutch to get for it? It has a 60 tooth sprocket mounted to the hub. Pics of the cart:
