I have had the kart for over a year and I have been looking for a cheap sled to transplant the motor into my Vortex. Well i bought a 77 artic cat 500cc sled for $100. I took it out in a field today and its insainly fast and started to pull the skis off the ground now im having second thoughts...
Yes the gear will move, just take the 4 bolts loose and move the motor forward to losen the chane then take it off your axel gear then you should have enough play to tilt the motor.
When you get it off go down to the hardware store and get 2 1in keyways and get rid of the 2in one. Then when you go to install you pull the jack shaft out until just the sprocket is on then you can put the pulley on and put 1 keyway on push the Jack shaft through more and install the last...
It feels like when the driven pulley starts to open it bogs down. I have never been able to hit top speed with the 9 tooth sprocket because I have very little flat ground even going down hill the straight shot I have never gets to the point where I float the valves.
Well i put on the 8tooth sprocket today and it has good power for the hills but now i think the driven pulley opens up going up hill so it reaches a point where it stops accelerating so tomorrow ill tare it down and move the spring to the 3rd setting. Then i think it should be spot on.
