Attaching a sprocket to an axle

I was thinking of making a carrier at work, but I can't figure out how to attach the carrier to the shaft! I'm going to use some bright bar, I can have it machine if need be for a keyway.

Attaching a sprocket to an axle

Is there a preferred way to go about this? I'd of thought welding it would warp the axle? Not a huge amount but enough to give it an imbalance! Thanks, Ben.

Marvelous, I'll see what I can find. Oh yes, I'll get to that now! I'm certainly concerned about the wheelies, although cool, it'd soon get irritating every time I pull away! Need to look into a clutch system so it's not quite the 'on/off' when it comes to accelerating. I'll let you know...

    Best welds thread :D

I don't really take pictures of my welding, don't have time! But was happy with this last week.. Picked this little toy up a couple of months back too. 200 amp AC/DC, also treated it to a pedal a few weeks back. This was when I first got the plant just using the button on the torch, you can...

You've pretty much explained what I was planning! I extended the frame around 400mm last night. 3/4" axle is 19mm in our English world isn't it? I've got a few metres kicking around at work, would the be ideal for the axle? I assume you can get sprockets to suit that diameter.

I'll be fabricating a complete back end, picked up some 25x3mm tube from work today. The plastic wheels aren't staying lol, it'll use a solid rear axle with a disc brake set up, would mini-moto calipers do the trick or aren't they man enough? I'm only 11 1/2 stone wet through so there's not a...

Maybe I can still get it to drift  I hadn't actually thought about the weight over the back, it's getting extended anyway so we shall have to see what it feels like when I get an engine mounted up. Drag trike, I like it! :wai:

I do too but it's been sat for years with flat tyres so they've perished :( That's great, thank you!

Not so much a kart, but I'm sure there's some that'll be interested  It's my old trike I had when I was younger, seemed so much bigger 10 years ago! Picked it up from my nans today and got straight to work! Plans are to fit a GX160 engine and have a bit of fun on the way. It's...
