do not go solid live axle you already have independent rear suspension. if your u-joints are welded to the axle i would just buy new u-joints and new axle shafts and then bolt them together. if I were you i would not try to build a new rear end i would just swap out anything thats welded...

remove the front and rear bumper and the box's around the wheels and you will lose 50-75 lbs at least. you can also cut down that box around the steering shaft. i would personally remove the box around the steering shaft completely and make a hoop out of tubing to hold the steering shaft in place.

thats the exact same kart i have. mine was in similar shape when i bought it for $280. 150 sounds like a good deal to me

gotta admit i am really interested in seeing how this buggy turns out. for my next project after my current one i was thinking of either buying plans off theo on gorkartforums or getting some plans from edge. I'm just not sure of the edge buggy's have the clearance i will be looking for.

if you buy a comet tq you don't need anything. they come ready to go. you may have to adjust your chain length though as the main drive sprocket will be in a different location.

TBH i don't think this motor will be enough for me but it is the biggest engine i feel safe mounting to this frame. I plan on building a bandit buggy sometime in the future and that will have a 600cc or bigger engine. then i should be satisfied with the power :wai:

my goal is to get it up to around 50 on level ground. with the old briggs setup i think i hit about 45mph but i was going downhill with my foot to the floor. but as soon as i hit even the slightest uphill it would drop down to about 10mph.
