It won't idle at all right now. It will only stay running with the throttle wide open. I didn't realize it had a governor. I wondered but didn't know where it was. I think figure 49 from the link you gave looks like my setup. I will have to take the laptop out to the barn to see for sure...

That would be way too easy Russ! I am thinking about ordering one but it wouldn't get here until next week or later so i thought someone may have an idea so I could get it up and running sooner.

So you are saying to have it go back across the top of the throttle to hook back in where the other spring is? Wouldn't having the spring go that way cause it to pull the throttle out of the idle position? Sorry if I am asking an obvious question. I am still a newbie at this stuff. Thanks, John

Thanks for the profound answer fowler! :-) Maybe it is a home made throttle setup. It looks like it belongs there but may not. I am still working on getting the engine running. Maybe it isn't required at all. It would explain why it doesn't show up on the parts diagrams I have seen so far...
