Harbor Freight Welder (Chicago 125 Flux) Good For Go Kart Frame?

My first welder, loved it, it runs on a 20 amp 120, flux core or gas, good welder made by Miller now I think

    Gas vs GassLess welding

Each has its advantages. Look at it this way, most of the cheap welders do not have the option to use gas and most of the professional welders only use gas and of course there are lots of welders inbetween. If you buy a welder that only has a flux core option then that’s what you have. If you...

    Welder purchase advice?

Like others have said you don’t need to fill up the bottles often. I have a Millarmatic 211 and I can build a fairly large single axle trailer and not use a small bottle of trimix (3.5 feet high by 8 inches wide, 100 cad). You could make dozens of cart frames on that much gas. The gas makes...

2:1 Centrifugal gear box or a torque converter

Hi, it does not come with anything attached, I have the choice between my 3/4” or 1” as both drive systems can be purchased for either crank shaft. It’s an either or thing, if I go with the wet clutch gear box then I adjust the jack shaft gear to match the same RPM a TC would do with the larger...

Tillotson 212 help (for a noob)

Ya, check the compression if you have tools if not, let er buck it will soon tell you what’s wrong. They certainly will smoke depending on what side it was laying on But start it and let it run, if it continues for a while and does it again on each start up, it’s sick. Easy enough to fix. An...

Tillotson 212 help (for a noob)

How hi did it rev and for how long after you unhooked the govenor? for It to smoke because it was not level then the engine would need to be tipped to the point the crankcase oil would seep past the rings to above the piston but if it was not hydro locked on oil then it would burn off in less...

2:1 Centrifugal gear box or a torque converter

The sled has a jack shaft, a gear will b put on the jack shaft which is one inch. The the chain from that shaft goes to to the engine. The question remains is a centrifugal 2:1 gear box with a built in wet clutch (Bolts on just like TC) a better set up than a normal TC

2:1 Centrifugal gear box or a torque converter

Almost ready to start my first build.

If you can manage it, use gas not flux core unless you are welding in windy conditions.those flux core welders spatter everywhere and the welds always look cold.

    New to the site, Hi

Not here for carts but building some snow dogs, same basic concept. Rebuilt literally hundreds and hundreds of small engines, done lots of welding, looks like a great site

Tillotson 212 help (for a noob)

I’d google the break down of the linkage set up and hook it back up the way is supposed to be. Those springs can get you mixed up. Btw always take pics before things come apart. You’ll get it, they are pretty simple once you do it a few times

2:1 Centrifugal gear box or a torque converter

Hi, I’m going to run a 9 hp with a 1” shaft, I don’t want a centrifugal dry clutch because I don’t think they are strong enough. Which of the two remaning options is best. I will be running this primary below freezing temps.Thx
