It should work as I have it, the lever pushes to the rear to open the throttle. For some reason when I install the spring it pulls it too far forward causing it to open. Not sure how or why but it does. I'm just going to hook it up to the nut the motor came with. Tomorrow I'm going to look into...

I drilled a hole in the throttle lever and attached one end of the spring to that and the other end to an existing hole (see photo) I thought this would be a good method. Why it doesn't work I haven't explored, but it causes the throttle to open. There is a perfectly good youtube video showing...

I'm going to weld the 1" bar that is angled- the one touching the frame, the other bracket bolts to the 1" bar which has the threaded rods. Its 2 pieces, so I can bolt/unbolt the bracket that holds the caliper and the caliper can have some movement.

That turned out great!

Here is the new brake bracket that will let the caliper float, 1 x 3/16" flat bar with 3/8" threaded rod plug welded. Still needs to be welded on, I might add a 1/2" spacer to the top.

They look like some type of stamped steel assembly. I would like to see another pic of them. I could see them as being a weak link based on how they attach, it doesn't appear to be a real solid connection and that motor and weight of the kart could test them. Good job on the kart, lots of work...

Only thing is I made the bolted adapter today! :roflol: Oh well. Masking tape trick is a good one, can't believe I didn't think of that! Pads probably dropped out 5 times while I was fitting it up. Test drive coming this weekend.

The Black Widow looks like a nice simple build for a first try. Google Sketch Up is easy to use and free for working on your layout and dimensioning parts. Concrete and chalk works too, probably a good idea since you can actually sit down and see how you should fit.

I am building a Recluse now with my son...that's my thread Nodroz linked to. The Recluse as it is dimensioned in the plans is a kid's kart. It's really small - like 5-7 yr olds size. If you're 6'-1" I would lengthen it 20"- 24" maybe more and widen it by 4"-6". You can get almost all the info...
