hmmmm i forgot about the temperature controller... just finished programming it to cut off the fuel relay if the temp goes past 788*c and then resets at 600*c... the thermocouple that came with the controller will not be suitable because it is too short... i ordered a "screw-on probe" one... also bought a cheap 5w power inverter to run the temp controller... yeah... this thing runs on 120v ...

now i just need to actually wire the relay to the controller and add a big warning light! will do that when i'll receive the new "k" thermocouple

ok i tested the fuel system and found that with the bypass valve all open i was still getting 20 psi at the nozzle... d'oh! reworked the bypass system an replaced the very restrictive needle valve by a biga$$ ball valve! didnt test it again but hey... it cant be worse than before... the delavan nozzle sprays with a nice fine mist! the procon pump is POWERFUL!!! i did a full load test and i busted my original fuel gauge...(rated 160 psi and it accidently putted like 220 in it...) thats why i replaced the fuel gauge and adjusted the internal bypass valve of the pump so it will open at 100 psi ,at 100 psi the turbine may not be at 100% power but i'll try with this first and then play with the laser tachometer to set the MAX rpm at 60000rpm (66000 is the max according to the program but i'll stick with 60000 ;))

now i need one of these "racing" switch cover to put on the ignition switch... as i dont want to accidendly trigger it and light the fuel fumes in the chamber...

pics! notice the changes...

this is a custom modded soldering torch (its for my pilot flame)

I got a question.

Où est les mots français ?
Je ne suis pas bilingue.

you mean why did i dont wrote the tags in french? well basically because english words take less space to write than french words...lol

where is the output shaft?

this is a turboJET engine meaning that it only produces static thrust (should be around 60 lbs) to get shaft ouput i would have to build a power turbine with a reducer that will be driven by the exhaust gasses... but this would be VERY pricey and time consuming...

Haha. You have some cool projects. :cheers2:

I hope you build some sort of turbojet go kart.

Oh, I have an idea. Could you build an air start for it? So it uses compressed air to spin the compressor?

That would be cool.

I'd like to get one of those 10hp diesel engines from Princess Auto and put a Smart Car turbocharger on it.. would be pretty neat.

yeah that would be awesome... look for the 13 hp ones they come in sale once and often... i got one for a project for like 400$

Lol I don't have that much money. Being an unemployed high school student, and having to drive around 60 kms round trip to school everyday.. drains my money.

I think a turbocharged small diesel on a go kart would have sooo much power. Diesels have more potential than gas in my opinion

they have more low end torque... and supercharged ones would be awesome!

i did some testing of the engine this afternoon ...

did one scary hot start and the secont attempt was successful!

i only uploaded the sucessful test because i'm in a hurry right now but i'll upload the other one later...

had to stop because the pipe that connects the compressor to the combution chamber blew up in my face LOL guess my duct tape pipe enlarger didnt held up the 25 psi discharge pressure lol

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nq8wk8EJBfk

this is the failure point... lol i pushed the duct tape use a little far i think LOL... i'm going to make a steel enlarger that will be welded on the combustion chamber... will not happen again... lol

And where did you find the 0W-30 here in Canada?

canadian tire... as simple as that lol

changed the oil ! MUCH thicker lol and welded up my steel ring, added some cooling fans and made a gasket out of some sort of asbestos gasket material

oh and booo for the bad weather this weekend... could not make a test run ...
