No clicky clicky. It goes BZZZZZZZZAP!
At exactly that second ya notice the positive wire, which is in yer bare hands has the insulation melting off and the wire has welded to the switch and the POS post at the same time and is glowing red hot.!
Now the red wire gets brighter by the milisecond. The mad scramble to get something, anything goes into Warp drive!
Just as ya think it cant get worst,
Ya notice the red hot wire has broken and fallen on the battery and melted a hole in it.
Well at leaset the emergency is over.
Oh and i think the thingy is bad.

Well if it wasnt broke, it is now
I was surprised to see it shorted also it has to be a fuel shut off. It has a pointed end that fits nicely in the main jet. I'm thinkin it should run without it. Well actually with it to plug the hole, but with the little brass pin removed.
maybe itsa safety (idiot) switch?
Tryin to figger why it is needed. Anyway i'll see if it'll run without it.
I'll wander through life "an idiot without a switch"!

Oh come on now. The super intelligent people that run the state of California are just watching out for our well being. How could we ever expect to get through life without their help
I wish your super intelligent people would stop showing our California wannabes how to f**k things up.
No! Wait! how to help us!

Took 11 posts for someone to answer correctly. Not surprised that Spark knew it though, but maybe they’re not common? I’ve got one on my mower and it was bought in Tennessee. Think they AUWLL have anti-backfire devices on the carburetor, not just Cali. Without ‘em they really get the bLaMM-0 after you turn the key and the engine's still freewheeling. Startled me when I forgot to reconnect it once.

With it disconnected, you should have idle circuit only. No revvum, no cuttum.
With a bolt in it's place, should run fine, with backfire if turned off at anything above idle.

Full story:
It is a mower engine off a ridem mower. 14 hp vertical shaft. I've been trying to ID this thing without the usual post with one worthless pic
Here bees what l know.
It was salvaged from a Kubota mower.
There issa sticker on the engine with the name Kawasaki Heavy Industried. Nothing else.
Cast into the bottom half shell crankcase are the words "made in usa"
I have yet to find a model or serial no.
I'm going to see how it runs and consider it for a replacement fot the worn out flathead on the Naughtagator.

So with the key on it energises pulls the pin thingy down and opens the main jet, correct?
So if l were to pull the pin out and cut it off, no fuel shut off? I did that and put it back to plug the hole til l find the proper bolt.
