Denny, yes that's my 1967 Camaro
part 1
, factory 327ci, factory 2-speed powerglide. Had 42,000 miles when i bought it off the original lady. Her husband has never driven the car. No one other than the dealer (for services) has driven the car. i've had it since 1995. i was muscle car shopping, nothing caught my eye, i like all makes. This came up on the net, in Toronto, i live 8 hours north, i called the lady, and said i was leaving early in the morning to go see it with a friend.
she married her childhood sweetheart, both met in kinder garden, never apart since, when they finished high school, they made a deal, she help put him through med school, and after he became a dr, she would never have to lift a finger again, they moved in close to the school, same apartment for 8-9 years, she worked several jobs, drop chit cars, ate very little, bought nothing except his school books, he walked past the local chevy dealership every day on his walk to school, after he graduated, he signed up with the hospital, did his internship, and became a dr. he still walked every day from the apartment to the hospital. one day, he stopped in at the dealership, and as he was walking in the front door, guys were pushing this camaro up the back ramp and into the two car showroom. he watched them push it in, and then asked about it, it was the madurna burnt burgandy color, deluxe interior, 14" rims, 210hp, very nice little car for back then, am radio. so he bought it, since all he did since he started school was think about school, read books, study, etc, he never ever cooked or did laundry, nothing, he only had to think about school, and he did just that, so in saying that, he never got his drivers license, he had to get the salesman to drive the camaro to their apartment, and walk back to the dealership, of course she loved the car, she charished it, she rented a garage space off two older people next door for about five years. she loved that car to death. so after about 5 years, they bought a home, moved in, and life moved on, there was a very wide open yard, little rickety garage for her to park in, and on they went. about another 5 years in, she started driving Mercedes Bends, but she would never give up her first new car, the Camaro. so years went by, and the garage got weak, out came the camaro, and down went the garage, a new garage pad was put down, and the Camaro sat outside for another bunch of years, it was started very often, and even driven for oil changes to the same dealership where only one guy , Tom , would be allowed to drive the Car and work on it, he was one of the guys who had just started working at the dealership when he helped push the Camaro into the showroom, he worked at the dealership till he retired. as the Camaro sat on the new pad, cedar hedges began growing around it, tall, thick, hedges. whenever anyone would ask her to sell the Camaro, she would get really angry, totally loosing her chit. well after many many years of sitting, and with the net coming out, she agreed to put in up on the net for one day, but only for about 6-7 hours (67). i was on my lunch, i was searching the net, as i finished searching a site, i hit refresh, and her ad came up, i had a total vibe hit me, and i knew that was my Camaro, i called her on my break, got directions, took a bunch of stuff from the dealership i worked at, dealer plate, new battery, tires/rims, gas, oil change kit, belts, hoses, gas, mechanics wire, tow ropes, jacks, and lots more, i hit the highway at 4am, called in sick at 7am, went to the lady's house to meet her, and no car, i called her cell, she was minutes away, said the camaro was behind the hedges, the tall, thick, hedges, still i seen no Camaro, so we sat and waited, when she arrived, she pointed at the tall, thick hedges, said it's just behind there, omg, so i had to go rent a chainsaw, cut into the hedges,6 feed deep, and the hedges were roughly 14 feet tall, cut across the front of the Camaro, the needles on the car were over two feet thick, it was in a cedar hedge needle caccoon, omg it was crazy, i shovelled off the needles, put it into neutral, pulled it forward, and loved it to death, i changed tires, oil change, gas, belts, hoses, checked the distributor, new battery, and it literally fired right up, we had already made the deal, 4,200.00,, and i drove it home from Toronto on an 8 hour drive, i was in love, it was my Camaro, coming home with me, to my house to be babied for the rest of it's life. when i got home, i had to hide it from my parents as i had bought a Jaguar 2 weeks earlier and my dad said, that's it, no more cars, no more toys, no bikes, no snowmachines, nothing, you have to save your money, so, i put it in my aunt's garage and covered it up, that was in late fall, that xmas, my dad had a heart attack and passed away, in teh spring i drove it home and put it into the garage, mom was ok with it, she thought it was cute.
