Autocorrect has been a thorn in my side for years. Especially with the lastest version of Android. Since Robert updated our forum years, it's a lot more mobile friendly. Problem is, my newer phone, still likes to autocorrect the crap out of everything I type. Well gets turned into we'll (see one of my last posts). Wires got turned into wheels or something in one of my own threads on here.
Anyway, back to the topic at hand. The flywheels are also balanced to work within a certain RPM range. Going much above that and I'm sure the harmonics just get interesting. I'm sure the magnet for the ignition coil yeeting itself off probably doesn't help it's balance either. It's also why no one has made a flywheel that has a stator/charging coil. They can't quite figure out how to keep the magnetic from flying out. I wonder if they couldn't also just use several screws and thread lock them in as well as glue the magnets? Doubt that would do anything productive and I'm it's probably been tried.
Running a snowmobile engine for my project has it's own issues anyway.

If you put the magnets inside the flywheel they have more of a tendency to stay there. Like the ones for a charging system.

Thanks for sharing this. It's a Briggs engine by nature of the ratchet starter (unless some other manufacturer uses it) BUT the flywheel looks very suspect in that the excess rust pushed or was beginning to unseat the magnet from the flywheel. Rust is a powerful phenomenon and on used engines you pick up from craigslist, a layer of rust often makes the flywheel larger in outside diameter, closes the air gap on the magnetron and often rust-welds it to the flywheel, necessitating a cleanup to make it work again.
I'm OCD about painting cast iron flywheels on my "glamour" resto-mods, but not for the above reason.

Maybe I’m just talking out my arse but Uncle franks built the “Super blue wazoom” a 12HP Briggs 5hp engine?
With a 3hp cast iron flywheel that ran on methanol. I often wonder if there ever was a box stock blue wazoom class? Obviously 12hp and the class rules saying box stock you wouldn’t even be aloud to upgrade to a billet flywheel.
Really I want an answer to one single question.. Did uncle franks kart shop believe 12HP and a cast iron flywheel running Methanol on an ungoverned engine believe it was safe to sell “Box Stock”
They have to basically know without doubt that 3hp flywheel is proper right?? Like proper and safe won’t hurt anybody??

Hey you gotta admit though they were pushing those 3hp flywheels with that total seal case to pass tech easy! So yes we would have not even been aloud to upgrade the flywheel. You want to race in this class your doing it with a 3hp iron flywheel or don’t race.
