Speeduino is only configured to use a 5v Hall or optical sensor out of the box. A drop-in dual VR conditioner module is available, but rather expensive at $20-30. That said, hall sensors usually cost more. Avoid cheap inductive proximity sensors that usually have a blue tip and blue/black/brown wires. They are also described as hall sensors, but they aren't.

If you only want to control fuel, then a single trigger tooth is fine. Controlling spark requires an actual trigger wheel of some sort. The crankshaft speed fluctuates a lot between power strokes on a single cylinder engine and the ECU has to be able to track that as it happens. I've used as few as four with one missing and it wasn't great. Eight is probably the practical minimum and 36-1 is the most common. Aftermarket EFI computers support a wide range of weird OEM trigger patterns so there are a lot of junkyard options.

No, the late 60’s-70’s days of nitro cars switching from injection to blown and injected. Just feeling really nostalgic for the good old days of my child hood. I’ve had a really rough last few years.

I’m sure I mentioned it before but repeating the same stories is part of aging.

Gabby Bleeker, the Chicagoland Drag Race Legend, was a regular customer at the last bar I worked. He would come in while the girlfriend was shopping and would sip diet cokes and watch the White Sox. I’d ask about his cars and he’d tell stories about short tracks, bad brakes, and stopping in the mud of pig paddocks. He died a few years ago at age 90.

Aweful Alterds! Love those crazy little monsters! Not terribly fast by todays standards, but incredibly dangerous and put on a thrilling show.

Been away from the internet for a few weeks, seen this thread is still going. Did someone mention Speediuno??
The DropBear matched with Tunerstudio is a great ECU setup.
I use the NOC2 or C2C set up with Tunerstudio, Microsquirt is the only real comparison. You can use Hall, VR or optical sensors for Speeduino.
Optical- less septical to electrical interference, Hall- pure digital output direct to Speeduino, VR-robust and can take the heat, but requires a VR conditioner to turn the AC signal into a square wave for the trigger input on the Speeduino. Trigger wheel still has to follow the divides into 360 degrees format for ease of use, options are available on OEM offset trigger wheels.
Megasquirt has professional support as a professional ECU product, Speeduino has lots of support mostly relying on Tech guys doing it as a Professional hobby, great way to learn ECU control for all sorts of motorbikes and cars.

Ecotrons is a bit of an outsider, but supplies full ecu control for small engines.

I assembled a thing:

Megasquirt has professional support as a professional ECU product,

That is something to be thankful for because it was exactly like the Speeduino project for a lot of years. Steep learning curve, forums and volunteers for tech support, constant firmware development, hobbyist-level hardware, etc.

I've had a thorough dig through the Speeduino firmware(s) and it looks like the changes necessary to get MAP sensor levels beyond 510kPa is beyond my programming ability as a non-programmer with some familiarity of programming. :cautious: Other things made me scratch my head as to why they were done a certain way.

As an aside, I looked into Ecotrons again recently and couldn't really tell if they're still selling anything. You have to inquire via email or something.

You should block out your address from the receipt so I don’t send you all the junk mail I receive. Email, address, and phone number is too much info. Someone might create a 2nd Darren.

Was it cheaper to order from WTMTronics instead of DIY-EFI in the UK? Just curious because it's usually not.

Diy-Efi NO2C on back order, and yes cheaper from America, DIY-EFI prices are plus VAT at 20% for item and carriage.

bob58o, I thought that when I posted, so I've edited :)
